If some ass hat set up camp on the sidewalk outside your domicile (sidewalk == public property), and just yelled shit all day outside your house that was annoying to you, or even personally targeted/offensive… if you're telling me that you wouldn't, eventually, want to get rid of that asshole, you are STRAIGHT UP LYING.
That's what finny is doing. That's what finny has been doing since BEFORE HIS BAN.
It comes down to the equal application of law and order has to take priority over personal comforts. Finny only posts like that because so many retards are allowed to post whatever nonsensical garbage drops out of their ass. Us practical posters have had to put up with that for decades. Equal application of justice. If they're OK to repeatedly post nonsensical, annoying, garbage, in every thread, why shouldn't finny be able to as well? He's just sick of the double-standard. What's good for the goose would be good for the gander, right? You mean the kidiots can dish it out, but they can't take it? I said from day one that Lanny needed to lay down simple, basic ground rules and apply them evenly to everyone, or there would be trouble, but he decided that wasn't required. That arbitrary behavior was OK. That it would work. I mean, why have discussion forums at all if it's all just Half Baked? May as well just have one single, long-ass thread, amirite? -

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I don't much like Finny posts for the most part… ESPECIALLY as of late. But he was at least somewhat unique and entertaining at one time.
The sad fact, though, is that because all of his posts now are IDENTICAL, if I feed them into the mix, it will basically just result in a bot that says the exact same thing over and over again, and, I really can't see how that could be anything but incredibly boring.

Ok I see a valid point in there... When Lanny banned infinityshock for a century or millenium or whatever, he had to make a judgment call. There is no way to codify an exact procedure for dealing with EVERY. POSSIBLE. OUTCOME. when it comes to moderating an Internet forum.
YOU (and others) might disagree with the way he made his judgment call.
But, keeping with the real-world analogy... If some asshole was beaking off on your sidewalk for DAYS, maybe even WEEKS or MONTHS... Heck, let's say it's not even you, but someone else who matters to you... they come complaining to you about some asshole TECHNICALLY ABIDING THE LAW, but "harassing" them all the same... There would come a point where, if the law failed to respond (because maybe they simply can't find a way to deal with the situation legally - i.e. the asshole found a loophole), you would consider approaching things in a different way, or you would be trying to find your own "reverse-loophole", for lack of a better term.
Lanny is not responsible for establishing the rules of an entire society in all their complexity. He has to define some fundamental guiding principles, and then make judgment calls within certain fringe cases, and infinityshock is definitely one of those fringe cases.
Governing an Internet forum is not exactly on the same level of governing, say, a country, but apparently, as infinityshock has demonstrated, it will sometimes result in some complex requirements.
The only alternatives are:
1. Turn this place into a democracy (and I have a strong feeling that more people would favor Finny's ban than those that wouldn't - AND, even worse, if this becomes a full on democracy, then if 51% of people decide that X constitutes hate speech, then X is banned. THAT is a slippery fucking slope man.
2. We defer judgment to Lanny.
3. We create an alternative site. I see absolutely no reason to do this, personally, but it's a free country and ANYONE out there can do the same. -

You're way overthinking it. All users have to do is grow a thicker skin, and all Lanny needs to do is lay off finny's posts if he's going to arbitrarily let others post whatever they want. That's it, that's all. This ain't rocket science. -
