People pay money to satisfy their curiosities all the time. It also means something to some people. Those tests can tell you a lot about your predisposition to disease and stuff too, though I think typically they're sold as two different things

Like I said above, I put no stock in my "ethnic heritage," because I agree with HTS that some people put way too much importance onto their ethnic heritage to compensate for any
personal achievements (e.g.: pretty much the entire white nationalist movement), but it seems willfully ignorant to just ignore something as important as your ancestral origins simply because it costs a few bucks. It's like $100. That's the cost of a night of partying, or a couple video games (maybe? I have no idea what games cost these days since I rarely play any), etc.

Because to other people it's not that interesting...obviously everyone's ancestry is somewhat diverse if you go far enough back. Telling people "oh btw I'm 17% Nordic" doesn't really add anything to your value or use as a human. It's the "bragging" about it that's annoying...as if it's something unique, it's not.
