pretty interesting. you start with nothing, build basic automatic miners to extract metals, extract coal/burn trees to power them, then once you've got enough materials you can move up to steam power - use coal to fire up the boilers so you can run lines to your miners and factories instead of re-coaling them all the time.
then move up to different power sources - solar, nuclear etc. for better efficiency. as your constructions get more and more complex, you'll be building sprawling complexes to build parts and research new tech - instead of gathering hundreds of units of copper and iron, converting them to wires and plates then building circuitboards out of them, you'll have factories that each take care of one step and pass them onto the next.
the core of the game is about building automated systems that work, and as you get more comfortable with them you'll want to drill down and make them as efficient as possible. the goal of the game is typically to research rocket tech and launch a satellite (requiring lots of exotic resources, complex chips and expensive research) but there's plenty of other stuff to research and do too - there's a substantial military tree and unless you turn it off, hostile alien bugs will turn up and wreck your hardware every now and again.
Sometimes it sucks that I can't find a specific Thanked post from my TSTM'd account, but then I just remembered that half my Thanks came from RisiR, so there's a good chance I can find it through him.
He also usually Thanks good posts in general, so reading his Thanks is almost like a "best of" list of recent posts from different users.
RisiR should make a Thank account to serve as an archiver of good shit through Thanks.

It is an excellent game, give it a try. It's also great for "passive" gaming.
Why the fuck is every work place like this?. When I worked at Sears there was an automated sick line you could call and you just had to enter your employee ID and go through the robot voice prompts.
I used up all my sick days and they said I would be disciplined if I took another one so I just didn't show up and I also didn't call the sick line so was it really a sick day?.
I remember walking into HR the next day high on meth and Fiona the HR lady is like "Scrawny, you can't just not call the sick line, I don't even know how to deal with you right now because nobody has ever done anything like this before"
I also convinced all my co workers "They can't fire all of us if we all call in sick!" so we would all cover for each other and make fake excuses for the bosses. One of my co workers was late and said he was in a fender bender but he was actually just really hung over that day.
