well you definitely do both those things independently. I do far less opiates than I am prescribed in the run of a week and never exceed my daily dosage. I am also a fat fuck who doesn't use needles. I grew up in a secular household in a lower middle lower class area around a lot of Lebanese familes who I watched climb social rungs higher than my own. My household was secular and alcoholic so I never spent any time in a church really given my grandmother thought religion was a plot by the English to strip cultural identity and turn her scotch into red wine. I learned about Islam through other families and it really all depends how you learn it and interpret it. I've studied it a lot more over the last few years and it has a discernible positive benefit in my life
