2019-05-27 at 12:56 PM UTCNo Google Services Mobile backbone = Huawei is motherfucked for more than a lil while.
-
2019-05-27 at 3:29 PM UTCYeah even if the Chinese market doesn't care for it, losing the Google store will be a deal breaker in most of their target markets
turgid markets
turgid meerkats -
2019-05-27 at 3:55 PM UTCForget the store, Huawei is working on an alternative market with Aptoide so if shit is on an Aptoide repo then you can get it, but Google Mobile Services APIs are baked into apps so deeply these days that they will simply break functionality even if the Hong Meng OS natively supports the code as they say.

AFAIK MicroG is irrelevant to commercial use, some of your end users can end up sideloading with it but Huawei still can't ship with shit. If anything I see an aftermarket developing for sideloaded Huawei phones. -

It's part of it, but it's not so much the catalyst as it was part of the greater trade war. If anything China's punishing Canada for that; there's been little if any direct action against the US.
If you want to pin it down to an event, it's all coming from Trump's plan to resolve the US-China 'trade deficit' through political means
