    Pretty Huawei is not allowed to use x86 either. A majority of the patents surrounding x86 are held by Intel and AMD. If Intel won't license to them, they can't sell outside of China.

    more than just gps, it also triangulates with cell towers which is why it can still get your location despite the gps is turned off.

    I dunno about licensing, I tried to check it out but it's retardedly complicated. I think the core of it is that intel owns the rights to the x86 basic instruction set, but if it's that there's no way they can stop anyone from using it without changing standards and keeping them a secret.

    that said I didn't mean they'd replace their current chips with x86, just that they've been able to competently design x86 chips that rival the Ryzen series so there's no reason to think they can't build their own phone processors from scratch, just that it might take some time.

    yeah, I was going to say, the processor design implied by the x86 architecture makes it a bad fit for phones, no one would want to use an x86 processor there.

    They could already spy on everyone on Huawei phones, as long as they have GApps. This reduces the spying.

    google playstore doesnt exist in china.

    there are twice as much people who dont use playstore than there are those that do, if we compare china-us, and their doing just fine.
