2018-08-08 at 1:59 AM UTCGood news, Spectral says the panel is glued in place, which means it's most likely easy to remove.

I know that due to free trade, Republicanism, the Second Amendment, the jedis, and Ronald Reagan, that TV panels are at most $2.99 in the land of the free and the home of the brave, but I live in Old Socialist Europe, where the state entrapps me in her vicious claws. -
2018-08-08 at 2:32 AM UTCYou forgot to mention you are broke so you are devising a way to stick it to the man, rather than just by a damn TV.

if you try to return the whole TV in the new one's box they'll likely compare serial numbers and tell you to get fucked when they don't match
they also come with temper proof stickers. -
2018-09-10 at 10:02 PM UTCOK scam didn't work.
There were no tamper proof stickers, and I was able to buy a TV, switch the panels, and return successfully.
But it seems I cracked the fucking new panel
I have no idea how, when I turned it on there was a line down the screen and a tiny little crack at the bottom.
These fucking new TVs are delicate. I had no idea. -

in the US every retail outlet i know logs the serial number on the receipt
fun fact: the serial number that the returns people check is located on an adhesive-stuck label attached to the TV.
the label can be removed if done very, very carefully. they are made to be long-term visible but to self destruct if any attempts are made to alter them. (one method is 'plasticized aluminum' backing will crease/bend/fold and cause the face coating with the information on it to fall off in tiny, tiny flakes) the carefully removed labels can be sprayed with adhesive spray then swapped. -

Why would you remove the label when the label is stuck to the back panel of the TV? -
