you've never just stood in the ocean closer to shore where the water is chest deep just to cool off? of course you have. I grew up in Florida and Hawaii. I've seen and got stung by my share of jellyfish. -

When I see them washed up on the beach they always just look like stumpy fuckers. I mean I read alot about coastal sea creature but I didn't think they had tentacles that expand and wrap. Granted there are different types. I remember as a kid there was some migration of jellyfish and they looked like hamburgers looking down from the peir and there were fucking hundreds of em. Scared the shit outta me. I see the one pictured below wash up on shore alot

Word yeah the box jellyfish kills yo ass. I had no nausea, just felt like barbs were sticking out of me but none were visible. If you can see from the pic of it healing it looks more like individual barbs were there though or something.

Maybe we have a variety that aren't poisonous or venemous. We have Manta Rays and Bat Rays.. cute little fuckers. I heard they make great taco meat (the wings) and the only thing I have ever been bit by was maybe a sand or a baby leopard shark.
I felt something pinch or bite down on my toe and it bleed like a mother fucker when I was wading out in the water. I stopped going in after that.
we have poisonous sumac and poison oak that hurts like shit. I fell on Poisonous Smumac ( or a cousin of it.. a cactus like plant) and it looked just like your leg. it had little poisonous needles that get jammed under your skin and break off.. like broken glass it felt like. -
