2018-04-23 at 10:47 PM UTCMalice, are you committing suicide because you don't want to have to write computer code?
-
2018-04-23 at 11:09 PM UTCI'm doing it for a wide variety of reasons. Even if I was happy and enjoying life I would still prefer to cease to exist. I would choose to continue to exist in order to alleviate the suffering of others and help end sentient existence as we know it, but I was unfortunate enough to be born into a crippled body that puts me in a state of near constant suffering and hardship.
Those aren't the only reasons, but I just can't take it anymore. I've had enough and I feel confident that this will never get much better. Based on my entire life it's clear that I just don't have the potential to fulfill any lofty goals. Even if things were different, life would still be a burden to bear. I'm simply choosing to check out early.

2018-04-23 at 11:39 PM UTCMalice: It sounds like you have no source of pleasure in life, and, although you masochistically blame yourself, most of your difficulty arises due to other people.
Sploo: We all should just take the Malice pill. If you don't have time to do your homework just kill yourself. Didn't get that job - kill yourself. Bad day - kill yourself. Headache - kill yourself. -

And it would only become worse if we graduated! What the hell are we living for? What's supposed to be the reward for all our suffering, hardship, and toil? I tell you, a long life of hard work is the greatest fool's errand in existence! Lift the wool from your eyes, people, you have nothing to lose but the confines of life!
Universal suicide is the most logical thing in the world—we reject it only because of our primitive cowardice and childish fear of the dark. -

2018-04-23 at 11:50 PM UTCHate to break it to you Malice, but a lot of people sort of enjoy life, even the ones who act all miserable for attention.
People like things like food, socialising, games, having opinions, having a drink, watching television, etc. People even enjoy kvetching.
If you don't enjoy life that may be because you never learned how - enjoying life is a skill, something that can be learned, not something that comes automatically. -

Honestly I feel you brother. Though I may add that 5 years ago I couldn't see how life could ever improve and it has immensely. I still think life is pointless too but there's plenty of shit to enjoy and 0 shit to enjoy when dead. You're really overthinking it. Shit improved little by little (because I decided it was to) but not without major detours and picking up regrets I'll live with for a long time. You just got to get out of your fuckin emotions for 2 seconds. -

2018-04-24 at 12:49 AM UTCIt's hard to be smart and happy. You keep overthinking everything. Malice is about 130-140 or so, and seems to think that analysing things is a good thing to do - something he probably picked up from school and all those books and articles he reads.
Plus being that sort of IQ means that he can't relate to normal people - past 1 SD or so (15 points or so) communication between people breaks down, and Malice is a really bad aspie as well - so starting off badly, with little chance to improve.
"An unexamined life is not worth living" - bullshit. To enjoy life you need to be able to not think. -

So what if you can’t enjoy anything when you’re dead? You can’t suffer either. Your body will continue to decline, life will increasingly lose its novelty, until the worst of all will occur.
What’s so bad about going to sleep and never waking up again? That sounds great to me. I think people run away from it because they cling to the illusions of identity and consciousness. If you lose the fear of accepting the truth you lose the fear of what death is.
Life is a business that does not cover the costs. -
