What type of assault rifle should I buy?

2015-10-20 at 3:55 AM UTCI'm going to buy an assault riffle for target practice next summer and wanted some advice on what I should buy. I already have a .22 riffle and a pistol, but I want a powerful rifle. I was thinking about an AK-47 but a Heckler & Koch HK416 seems nice as well. I would like to be able to add things to the gun(like a scope, extended clip, etc).

seriously though, explicitly asking for suggestions for an 'assault rifle' makes it sound like you got the idea from videogames or spree shooting news coverage... it's more of a buzzword than a category of rifle nowadays

there are no such things as powerful rifles. the round the AK fires isnt particularly powerful in terms of other calibers for that matter. its about a middle-power with .22 hornet at the lower end with a .460 WBY at the upper end. you should never use the term 'powerful' when discussing a caliber around people who are familiar with firearms.…AK-47
not very accurate. most 'assault rifles' are not very accurate with about 3 MOA being the average. 1 MOA is required to be a sniper rifle or hunting rifle.…a Heckler & Koch HK416
no. theyre overpriced and their reliability and features dont anywhere close justify the costs. the magazine costs are absurdly ridiculous…extended clip, etc).

I don't really talk in public, so it's not really an issue. But I guess I can start learning so that I get better answers.

it isnt just about making a bad impression as a noob-wannabe...its also about needing to know at the very least some basic fundamentals of firearms and their use. for one thing, calling a magazine a 'clip' is a dead giveaway to being a wannabe-noob
AR15 fires a 5.56x45 / .223 remington round which was designed to kill bunny rabbits and other small furry animals. There are locations where it is illegal to use as a hunting round for certain sized animals due to the inadequacies of the terminal ballistics of the round. Its benefit is its more accurate...both the caliber and the rifle. the AK47 fires a 7.62x39 round. The AK round is more 'powerful' but less accurate, and much cheaper -

i could go on all day about stories of dumb asses with weapons that are 'average.'
dumb nigger with a full-auto 5.56x45 'forgetting' to release the trigger and filling the overhead bullet-traps with rounds until the belt ran out. same nigger muzzle-sweeping an entire range of shooters. moron trying to shoot .380 rounds out of a 9mm then when chastised about it stating 'but they fit.' moron loading a magazine with the rounds in backwards.
even above-average isnt really saying much. i recall an argument between myself and a CCW instructor in front of a class about how glocks dont have hammers -

In my country guns are illegal but even i know not to do the things you mentioned. I did one stupid thing once though, i pointed a live Berretta Cx4 Storm at a nigga' at a range. I was like: Breh... It jammed. -
