i kinda like the shitposting tbh, it adds a kind of degenerate atmosphere to the site. and its only fucking lolz, don't take it so seriously its just an internet forum ffs. the spammers posting 30 thousand 'buy trainers derp' freds in fucking french is pretty annoying but they soon get kicked off the front page when nobody replies to them so its minor inconvenience. to be perfectly honest, i wish all i had to worry about was a few people posting freds which i didn't like and didn't have to read. fucking i got way bigger problems in life to stress about.

Ignore functionality is difficult to implement in a way that's both useful and performant. vB and the like usually do it by rendering posts by ignored users as like "post hidden because you have XYZ ignored" so it does nothing for thread lists and in repeat posting in threads you end up with pages of blank "post hidden" messages. Treating ignored posts like they don't exist means different posters will see different lengths for threads, different thanks counts, different post numbers. Not only is that a lot of math but it fucks my ability to cache pages, which is a major reason this site can be run quickly on as little hardware and as it is. If anyone has any better ideas then i invite you to open a pull request.

As for closing registration, I've considered it. Kind of annoying though. What do you guys think?

I don't think closing registration will do any good, he probably started stacking alts from the first time it was suggested

i can imagine scronaldo's room completely covered every surface in postit notes with usernames and passwords, prolly all done in a 24 hour meth binge.

I don't really care as I already have an account. maybe a board for new people to post in but then you'd need some kind of approval system, to create it and then go through account approvals just sounds like too much work tho.

As far as amassing accts, sure he prob did but it's like Falco said they will be used up, eventually.

I dunno I guess just put up with meth fueled spam waves.

EDIT: if considering closing reg, pulling the trigger earlier would be best.

I say close it temporarily and play whack a mole while we brainstorm other solutions. At least close the floodgates for a while until we can figure out a better way to deal with the Scrawny spam.

you could pretty easily delete any accounts with less than say 5 posts that are more than a week old. then have new users first ten posts having to get approved before they go on the board. i mean its not like we're getting hoards of new users every week.

Yup, close registration, restrict new users to posting in mongoloid or something before approval, just ban obvious scronaldo.

It's only a matter of time before his dopamine is completely depleted and at this point he can't get high for at least a few days I already think this happened though and since he's been bingeing like a infant cocked cuck for the past month his "tech" won't be able to get him high enough to where he acts like a total faggot spamming the forums...at least in theory I'm right unfortunately we can't know for sure though.

You guys are going about this all wrong. What you need to do is, instead of destroying or degrading the BBS, you need to make a reasonable rule-set and then actually enforce them, without playing favorites. Implementing rules and then being arbitrary about enforcing them was your problem to begin with.

When you arbitrarily enforce rules, that singles out certain members and makes them feel useless and unvalued. So you know what they do? They become useless and unvalued. Ninety nine times out of a hundred, when a member shitposts off the rails, that is the reason they do it. Now, you can argue this until the cows come home, but it is the basic truth of it nonetheless. There has to be quantifiable congruity and visible impartiality. Mistakes were made. Good advice was ignored. This is the consequence. This is not hard math, really, it isn't. You've been making the same mistake again and again and again, and you never learn! It's not the spammers' fault, it's your fault!

Why did you take issue with Rodent? How was he different?

This is the best idea I've heard so far.

As for the problem of scron stacking accts, its better that he has a finite amount of damage left to do.
