Military Genius Zelensky wants Ukrainians to throw molotovs at Russian tanks

2024-04-01 at 12:57 PM UTCRussia's made official complaints with the UN and demanded the rendition of 'terrorists' associated with the Crocus* shootings, the Belgorod attacks, the Crimea Bridge attacks and the bomb attack on the military blogger last year under existing anti-terror treaties.
they know this will be fruitless, but it's obvious they're setting up the failure of official channels as justification for them to act unilaterally.
*In terms of Crocus the FSB has claimed that the crypto wallets used to pay the shooters were linked to previous SBU activities but as far as I know, haven't released any concrete evidence -

It's odd that they're only now trying to develop defenses against drones like that, geran has been around a long time as one of the cheaper ones.
Not exactly cutting edge shit either -

this is a specific counter to LANCET drones; they've been revised a few times since the beginning of the war (different explosive payloads, different charges, different flight configurations) and are now extremely lethal to armor, probably outranking artillery for tank/artillery kills now.
also I've seen rumours that there are now GERAN variants that use jet engines for some reason -

In all actuality this is neither innovative nor novel of an approach. If anything...it's a day late and a dollar short.
The limeys used signal identification and triangulation throughout the 'troubles'...after WW2 the commies used it so often that GIs stopped using radios because every time they keyed one up it was followed shortly thereafter by artillery. The FAA uses it all the time to find assorted frequencies that hurt their feelings -

There's no actual reason jet engines need to be expensive, in fact they could possibly be made cheaper than normal engines. They're basically just a series of fans. Same thing mechanically as a turbocharger in a car. Maybe the Chinese have started knocking out cheap ones. -

What makes them expensive is the high pressures the system runs at and the need for expensive materials...especially the fan blades made from exotic alloys that spin at about 89 billion rpms.
About a decade ago there was an article out of jhina about how they did their jet engine tests in armored bunkers because of the frequency the fan blades would spontaneously self-identify as giant shurikens.
There was a dude I used to know that bought a turbofan engine from jhina that he bolted to his skateboard and rode around on. I think it was only a couple grand...I don't recall for sure. -

for gazzilions pound of thrust maybe.
but not for a few kilos of plastic and metal like modern drones. for low thrust application like propelling drones regular aluminum woukd suffice as compressor blades with high bypass design.
you dont need exotic material when theres no souls onboard. -

yeah but the reason they don't use them isn't just for the price point, but because the 2-stroke moped engines have a much lower heat signature. historically Russian/Soviet AA gear relies more on thermal seeking whereas NATO gear relies more on radar -
