I got my son his first rifle this year after his seventh birthday. Most excited he's ever been.
All children should learn gun safety even if they aren't exposed to firearms at home. At some point in their lives they will encounter a gun in one way or another. I sleep a little easier knowing that my son can tell the difference between a toy and the real thing and knows how to handle either. -

That's probably a good idea to not muddy up the other thread.
Tommy had a good time at Bible Camp. He was petrified for his first day of course, and fought me a bit about getting in the car, but it ended up working out. He's never heard anything about Christianity before, so it was incredibly cute to hear him talk about what he learned. He's still warming up to me though and doesn't say a whole lot.
It's also still a bit awkward having him around the house, but that should go away in time. I'm thinking about getting him his own Yume (akita) once we get a good routine going and he learns how to manage some more responsibilities. I think a dog will do him good.
There's literally so much I want to teach him too. After he took a bath tonight he was adding onto the Lincoln Log village before bed, and I taught him how to do a proper slav squat. He thought it was so fucking funny. He kept asking "People there really squat? Why? Do they know they look silly?" LOL. -
2017-06-13 at 4:43 AM UTCWhy. In. The. Fuck. Is he going to Bible camp? Please don't do that to him .

2017-06-13 at 4:48 AM UTCWelp, Dargo. Now I can't tell if you're kidding , and why. I mean seriously I like Tommy, why would you use him like that? Please just be honest. I'm serious. Is everything a LIE?

No, I'm not kidding. I'm a Christian, and it is therefore my duty as his parent to do everything I can to make sure he becomes one too. It's all in his best interest, mmQ. I'm not using him. -

God dammit. I can't tell if you're trolling.
Why can't you let him decide for himself? You KNOW you're not absolutely right, so why train his feeble little mind to buy into a religion that he may not agree with? It makes it that much harder for him to snap out of. (Took me 27 years). I get your intentions , and I'm sure you mean well, but it's not fair to him. -

This is legit not a troll.
I understand where you're coming from as an atheist, honestly I do. But that's not how Christian parenting works. Christianity, if taken seriously, is something that becomes ingrained in every aspect of your life. I couldn't parent without it if I tried.
Besides, you're acting like religion is a mind disease I'm giving him. It's not. Being a Christian is actually fucking awesome. -

Religion is a mind disease though. But so is socialism. Atheists have a tendency to become socialists, but not me, i have transcended into AnCappinism. -

You need to transcend a little further to libertarianism then, because unfortunately AnCap is still a 14 year old's ideology.
And, no, Christianity is not a mind disease. Religion tho? Yea. That's why I'm not Catholic. -
