ok you posted a graph showing nasa decrease in budget over the years

ok? the fuck does that have to do with skynet ffs
  3. NASA wastes all its money on gay ass "science" anyway.

    Orion Crew Vehicle $1.4 billion
    Lunar Gateway $450 million

Um nothing...did you miss the whole back and forth with ALDRA regarding why 50yrs later we "allegedly" don't have the tech to go back to the moon...THAT'S what my graph was about

Spending on "going back to the moon" has been $0 since the 70s...THAT'S WHY. The tech hasn't been lost because the tech hasn't been developed (up until recently)...of course we wouldn't use 60s/70s tech to send a mission now...new tech has to be developed.

    wtf.

    wtf.

    1. NASA isn't the only group concerned with space travel and hasn't been for a long time, in fact their reduced funding is largely a function of their increasing irrelevance

    2. the bulk of the spending on the space program back in the 70s and earlier was for hard-won data on things like required propulsion, gravity and orbits, radiation and the van allen belt etc. rather than actual production of hardware. if they haven't fucked up and lost that data it can be relatively easily integrated into new systems for much less.

    3. remember that hardcore autist that got bullied out of NASA for wearing a shirt with anime girls on it? he got replaced by a diversity hire. rinse, repeat forever. the woman who got credit for 'rendering the first image of a black hole from telescope telemetry', who wrote less than 5% of the codebase where one of her male coworkers contributed 80%? the movie about black women in the roles of literal human calculator singlehandedly carrying the space program on their backs (aside: I found it super funny that they included a scene where a man was trying to psych the black women up, saying they could do anything because he was a Polish J'ew who escaped the nazis and was now fighting for freedom... by working under the man who developed the V2 missile)?

the problem isn't funding or technology, it's simple competence.

The private sector had 0 technology too.

They didn't have any tech to "lose"...the only agency that possibly had tech to lose was NASA...hence my response.

It wasn't lost tech, it was $0 financing...again, no one would think of using 60s tech to send a moon mission now for a whole host of reasons...new tech HAS to be developed.

the assumption/argument that we "lost the tech" is pretty dumb.
