How come I'm not getting hired

  1. #1
for any high-skill food service positions, like Panda Express, Chili's, Applebees, etc. paying 15-18$/hr?

For context, I have 3 years of food service experience, experience in a supervisory position, ServSafe certified, WIlling to work 8-12 hour shifts, 1st and 2nd shift, 5-7 days a week, willing to work OT, can lift 150 lbs.

I lost track of how many places i've applied to at 21. I'm still working on it, i've done 6 or 7 today, hopefully I get 15 in before long.

    WTF fuys?!?

Maybe because you think panda express, chilis and applebees is "high skilled"

High-Skilled relative to my recent jobs (Taco Bell, Wal-Mart, Casey's)

probably lots of people applying for those jobs

sticking to one industry that can happen. Maybe try to find similar things that aren't exactly that like working in a company kitchen or a hospital or some shit

Imagine offering employment advice when you yourself are chronically unemployable

These types of jobs require no experience, no one gives a fuck you pressed quesadillas for 3 years. Just emphasize how eager you are to work and you don’t mind staying extra hours, getting called in last minute, you’re available for any shift 7 days a week including holidays. THAT’S what they want

And you’re a fast learner and you know how to follow instructions. Doesn’t matter it’s all a lie, you just have to get hired then you can revert to your deadbeat ways after a month or 2

I dunno man, honestly none of it really makes any sense

If you want some real advice don’t just get stuck going from one entry level shit job to the next. Get an apprenticeship at a union like IBEW or something and get a real job with progression and benefits. I used to know a lot of guys like this making upwards of $150k-200k once you top out. It generally takes between 5-8 years to make journeyman depending on the program.

They’re mostly illiterate rednecks who started with little to no education or experience, and once you progress to a certain point the grunts do most of the real work anyway and you just oversee them. Any idiot can do it.

    There’s your local chapter apparently.

That’s just one option don’t limit yourself. Welders also make some good money too, I don’t know how their apprenticeships work, but you get the idea.

    It’s honest work

Have you called them to check if they had any questions after reviewing your resume? I used to hire and fire quite a bit in my younger days and the people that showed they were eager to work got priority, I didnt give a shit if the other ones had prior experience. Eagerness to work and learn means more to me (in hiring for those particular positions) than someone who has experience
