I think people tend to overlook the fragility of life on Earth and how it can change suddenly, an asteroid here, a supernova there, a massive solar flare, a gamma ray burst etc…
Then there is the scale factor…is 8 billion people having their A/C running 24/7 really enough of an influence to change the climate SIGNIFICANTLY? …it's like suggesting an ant hill significantly changes a cow field because there are 200,000 ants in it shitting pissing farting and stomping around in the field…the only time the ants are noticed is when the farmer stands on the anthill and gets them running up his leg.
Then isn't a person having to pay 5 dollars more a year in taxes, also not a big deal? Why do people complain about that? who gives a fuck? -

I don't know what he used he could have been making fertilizer with his own shit, or have running water. Either would not surprise me but either case when he did use a toilet anywhere he wouldn't flush it because it "uses water" which is "bad for the environment" or whatever.
which just seems silly to me but what do I know

I don't really know anyone who complains about paying $5 a year more in taxes...if only!!
I think the point is though if you pay more you should get more services for that $5 or an explanation why your taxes have increased...the obvious answer being inflation. -

it's not the amount it's that you have no choice it's a fee for interacting with the system and once you pay in and sign the document you're fucked they can fuck you any way they want and control you, just like signing anything with any company. It's all a huge scam ONLY $5 get a FREE PHONE PAY NOTHING DOWN ONLY $5 A MONTH GET A NEW ROAD , same concept except with worse service -

oooh like a trolly scenario.
would you rather pay 10 more dollars a year in taxes to save 1000 lives or pay 10 more dollars a year in taxes and those lives wouldn't be saved but you would get a nice proper blowjob on December 31st.
There are obviously a lot of people that would choose the blowjob. genuinely. I suppose that will never change, and maybe it even makes sense, maybe its the right choice. Or could it be the wrong choice? Does it matter one way or another? If one of the thousand people that will die, will absolutely be someone the person knows but is not significantly attached to, would they still choose the blowjob? Like your cousin who you don't talk to very often but you knew them growing up and know they have kids and they're a decent human being, would you take the blowjob or just have them die? Does it REALLY matter if they die? -

Placing a bullet in your head is another.
guns are illegal i'm not allowed to buy them without paying hundreds of dollars and waiting weeks for a license, there are much cheaper ways to do anything without relying on the system.
be the change you want to see

Depending on the lives in question...but probably the latter. There are obviously a lot of people that would choose the blowjob. genuinely. If the 1000 in question were a bunch of worthless twats/criminals/perverts/leaches etc I'd have no problem with that kind of population control. -
2023-09-06 at 4:35 PM UTCthe 1000 in question are completely randomly chosen but one of them will be someone you know personally that isn't a big deal to you but you do know them. like I said. Maybe its just a work colleague that you talk to now and then and find them enjoyable to have around but you never talk to them outside of the office.

If it was random I'd probably be ok paying $10 more to save their lives...I can always get the BJ and pay for it seperately at the Asian spa as I normally do...I know I know, I'm such a good humanitarian. -

I'll make one up for you.
Everyone pays an extra $10 in taxes a year and as a total that's enough money to save 1000 lives via medical procedures for them...would most people be ok with that?
Yes I think they would if that legitimately happened...though skepticism would be rife that the money would be used for that. -

"probably"
It is curious that a person would even have to think twice about it. literally saving 1000 lives or getting a blowjob. Hmmmm. It feels like it should be an easy answer. I guess that's just the HUMAN CONDITION. nothing much matters unless it affects us personally. -

See above...the thinking twice is related to skepticism that the money would be used as such and not instead used to fly a couple of politicians around the world to some pointless climate change meeting instead.
