Meanwhile the fighting everywhere else has slowed down, so Bakhmut is to Russia what Verdun was to Germany, the place where their offensive is concentrated, and they keep it going on and on despite it just not working out for them.

got a source? last I saw they were showing a couple off but production's so slow there are nowhere near enough to make any sort of difference and it seems unlikely they'd throw the few they have into the fire

That largely depends on how far they can see and how well, Russia have been having trouble with not enough thermals though they're relatively cheap for private purchase now in the west so we'll see.

tanks and artillery? both sides have been using cheap drones with good quality cameras to control and adjust fire
the kind of cheap thermal imaging that's become popular is questionable for infantry use, let alone surveillance or targeting over kilometres
