Originally posted by aldra SYRIA - Israel just bombed Damascus airport. wtf.
Still awaiting confirmation; the only official information released is that there was an explosion.
'Rebel' sources are saying that an ammunition dump was bombed as the airport was host to weapons and ammunition imports from Iran - this doesn't make sense though, as it's a civilian international airport and there's a military airbase within 50km.
Other sources are indicating that a fuel depot was hit, which makes more sense - if it was Israel (or really anyone else), the purpose of the attack was likely to deplete local fuel stores to ground air support and slow down SAA progress in the region.
Of course it could've just been an accident and nothing will come of it, but I doubt that's the case. -

Originally posted by aldra I'm not so sure - if the US didn't value Turkey militarily I expect they would've done something to stop them from destroying their military assets in the form of the SDF. Turkey is literally bombing the fuck out of them right now - as above, the YPG is withdrawing from the frontlines, leaving Raqqa's western flank open.
In terms of local allegiances, the Gulf states may side with Turkey, but only out of convenience. Israel is likely to provide some support as well given they'll do anything they can get away with to hurt Iran/Hezbullah.
Good point with Israel.
I don't think Turkey is such a great asset so much as they're more powerful than the SDF. And especially with Trump in office, I don't think he's too keen on aiding the SDF or YPG. Perhaps Hilary would've if she actually did what she said she was going to do when she became president and sided with the Kurds, but whatever. -

military service records are completely irrelevant to the topic at hand, and nobody cares who can substantiate what.

SYRIA - Israel's issued their token non-admission admission - their intelligence chief (whose name is actually Israel - go figure) has responded to the media saying that the attack 'is in line with Israel's policy of stopping the transfer of weapons to Hezbullah', but the IDF have refused to publicly take responsibility.
US - Media establishment is circulating the story that 'North Korea sold Assad the sarin he used on his own people'. Complete lack of evidence for the sarin attack claims aside, all of these stories cite a single source, a 'North Korea Expert' who is linked to the intelligence community and has apparently never provided raw data supporting his claims. -
2017-04-28 at 3:08 AM UTCIt is being reported that china's attempt at an aircraft carrier was a complete and utter failure. Truth or subterfuge, I wonder
-
2017-04-28 at 3:10 AM UTCGot a source? From all I've seen it launched as planned, no major faults.
Keep in mind that China doesn't really value aircraft carriers much at all; they just wanted to prove they're part of the big boys' boating club and demonstrate their engineering/manufacturing skills. -
2017-04-28 at 3:13 AM UTCYEMEN - Apparently an offensive to take Hodeidah has launched, largely Saudi mercs backed by US Marines. I have no idea what the importance of the site is; will have to look into it.

russias carriers have been failures, at least up until the last few years.
the chink carrier is a former russkie one, and the country has zero carrier expertise. yes, the chink carrier is a complete and utter disaster, except for PR purposes -

Looking into this a bit, apparently Iranian C130 transports are stationed at Damascus International - it's possible they're too big to land at nearby airbases.
I can't find any indication that they were targeted or hit though - still not many specifics available. -

Apparently the background for this is that Hodeidah is a key port for international trade - judging by geography, the Gulf states would have to make use of it for restocking/refueling when shipping goods virtually anywhere.
In 2015 the Saudis destroyed much of the port's unloading cranes and equipment with missile strikes and have been blocking repairs and replacements ever since. While essentially blockading the port, they're also petitioning the UN to take 'supervisory control' over it on the basis that it's current inoperability is a huge contributor to Yemen's current famine - inability to unload food and medicine deepens the crisis exponentially.
The head of the UN Human Rights Council and Womens' Rights Council has destroyed a Yemeni port and blockaded it to stop it from being repaired, at the same time trying to take control of it to 'alleviate the suffering of it being inoperable'.
They've apparently now given up on a UN mandate and are trying to take it by force, and the US military is backing them. -

C130s are very capable of landing on very short runways. I dont know what variant the ragheads are using...but lightly modified C130s have landed on carriers before. (same plane/ship...dozens of times.) additionally...they can be equipped with JATO pods that allow a C130 to take off at an almost vertical climb rate. (Ive seen it...its impressive) -

I cannot seem to find where I pulled that from. Hmm. -

US is reporting NK fucked up another missile launch (though it landed in the Japan Sea like the successful ones), Turkey blocked Wikipedia citing terrorism and they appear to be staging their armor for an incursion into Tel Abyad -

everything in the media propaganda is adding their little 'hints' that a literal war is about to break out -

Posts deleted, next pair of you cunts to get into a shitflinging match ITT will get banned.
P.S. Telling someone to stop posting off topic and then posting for a page and a half about their various personal failings is not productive behavoir
P.S.S. Even if you think infinityshock is full of shit at very least he's full of shit with respect to the topic, which is more than can be said for many of you in the last two pages
