2017-04-21 at 4:11 AM UTCSYRIA - Saw some interesting info on the IEDs being demined in Aleppo and Palmyra -
In Aleppo almost all of the explosives were tripwire-triggered, whereas in Palmyra the vast majority were attached to pressure plates. In both zones there were some (relatively few) IEDs that appear to have been specifically designed to kill sappers - they were triggered by radio waves; ie. set off by a soldier or emergency worker's radio, presumeably set to only trigger when the signal is high (close) enough.
FYI most of the sappers are contractors, not regular military, and a significant number have died since Palmyra was retaken. -
2017-04-21 at 4:38 AM UTCLEBANON - Unverified reports of Israeli warplanes active on the Lebanese side of the border. Earlier today media were invited to tour the border and inspect Hezbullah defences.

Originally posted by aldra SYRIA - Assad has submitted requests to the UN multiple times asking for an investigation team to inspect the site of the Idlib 'gas attack' but they're being ignored. OPCW claims to be analysing chemical samples but have not been on site and refuse to reveal where they got the samples from.
I was going to post a bit more about this but it took a few paragraphs to get a clear picture of what's going on. I've posted it in the chemical attack thread here instead. -
2017-04-24 at 5:09 AM UTCKOREA - I read something interesting today - apparently US/SK have been attempting to deepen NK's famine for decades by staging their 'joint exercises' during rice harvest season every year. NK could not sit idly by with such a concentration of military forces on their border, simulating an attack on NK of all things, so they're forced to call many people who would otherwise be participating in the harvest into temporary military service.
SYRIA - Things are getting ever more complicated and I need to read into specific instances to get a clear picture of what's going on, but it seems the escalation of infighting between rebel groups is an expression of infighting among their backers.
1. Turkey is funding and training an FSA unit specifically to fight the SDF (Kurdish Militias)
2. The co-ordination of attacks from multiple rebel groups in an attempt to stop the SAA's advance on Homs strongly indicates a level of co-operation between ISIS and groups falling under Al-Qaeda (most of them). As I mentioned earlier they may in fact be trying to pool their forces.
3. Israel bombed more SAA positions in/near the Golan, presumably to support the AQ assholes they were engaging.
4. There's a lot of shady business going on with the Gulf states and the 4 Towns Agreement but I'm only hearing bits and pieces at the moment. -

Wouldn't it make more sense to target a city on the west coast? How would they successfully get a nuke clear over to NY? -
2017-04-24 at 6:02 AM UTCA report supposedly released by NK but whose origin cannot be verified is saying that NK has caught the US trying to set up a gas attack, and they have threatened preemptive nuclear retaliation. I say the timing is too convenient WRT gotham shield for it to be an authentic NK report.
operation gotham shield could easily be used as a cover to set off a nuke in NY which could be blamed on NK in order to justify war, while pointing at this report to "prove" that NK was planning it.
That op is set to begin tomorrow. God help us.
We might be in for the mother of all false flags tomorrow
On the other hand the report could be authentic and Kim Jong is just throwing another sissy fit

2017-04-24 at 6:05 AM UTCYeah, seems unlikely. I had a look around, none of the rumours seem to have any real backing - they're just guesses based on the US' propensity to turn training exercises into actual 'events'.
That said I'm not certain NK even has the capability to deliver nukes via missile at this point - I'd be far more worried about nuclear weapons being transported on boats or trucks or whatnot. There'd be little that could be done to stop a nuclear bomb if it were brought in on a container ship - it could be detonated at the dock before the ship's even been inspected and still do catastrophic damage. -

2017-04-24 at 6:08 AM UTCAlso, they've had potent chemical weapons for a long time - they definitely have standard nerve agents and delivery systems, and given the secrecy surrounding their military capabilities they could well have a lot more.
Assuming they're not yet able to deliver nuclear weapons on missiles, they're likely using chemical weapons in their place and it stands to reason that THAT is what their submarines are armed with. -

If NK were to attempt a nuclear strike against the US it would almost have to be by submarine. As far as I know they don't have any other capabilities that we wouldn't immediately detect.
None of that matters if a false flag is planned though.
And I seem to recall reading a report a few months ago where a bunch of nuclear weapon detectors (or some such shit) in new York all went off at the same time but it was just brushed under the rug. Not sure if that's even relevant or if I just dreamt that up but I can't seem to find it now

This is definitely a concern too but they must know that if they were to attack us it would only be a matter of minutes before his country would cease to exist. In light of that I couldn't see him resorting to chemical weapons unless he is trying to goad the US into war with hopes that it won't go nuclear, which would be insane even by his standards -

This is an interesting read - http://www.rense.com/general37/nkorr.htm
It's been US policy to undervalue NK's military capacity both to garner support and to give a sense of superiority to their soldiers, but in an actual war, they will take a LOT of losses. NK has enormous manpower and the rest of the world knows little about their military equipment. Much of it was based on old Soviet gear, but they've been manufacturing domestically for decades so it's likely their current gear is nothing like the outdated soviet weapons they initially had.
More importantly they have a doctrine of Total War - they're not interested in fighting defensively.
I doubt NK would intentionally start a war; what I mean is that if NK was attacked, it's likely they'd respond by launching chemical or nuclear weapons from submarines at the US mainland. i don't think their doctrine draws a line between 'conventional' and 'nuclear/chemical' warfare. -
2017-04-24 at 6:48 AM UTCI don't know, they still fly the MIG-15. I don't have very high expectations of them being able to launch any sort of submarine attack. China, Korea, or Japan would most definitely pick up on them on the way out and intercept.

They're already out and about, 50-70 diesel submarines from what I hear...
I don't know about their airforce, it's pretty unreasonable to expect them to have been able to independently build planes that can compete with the SU-35/PAK-FA/F35 etc... Most countries aligned against the US don't really care for offensive bombers and opt instead for missile tech to defeat their expensive air-superiority - as such their planes are mostly defensive, and SAMs/CIWS cannons serve that role at a much lower cost -

Ah, gotcha. Hell they already beat us once, whose to say it won't happen again?

China appears to be siding with NK. Pretty sure they're just bluffing though.
And undetectable submarines are the only tactical advantage that we know for sure that they have. They may have something else up their sleeves but I doubt it -

They've only been pretending to stop doing business with NK and they haven't really been pretending very hard at that.
In the case of conventional war breaking out they'd probably support NK covertly but not take any overt action against the US, but if there was a risk of a nuclear attack they'd have to stop it - there's no way they could accept the radioactive fallout so close to Chinese shores.
That said, with a Total War doctrine, there's nothing to stop it rapidly escalating to a nuclear exchange... -

Indeed.
Do they still do the doomsday clock? What's it at now? -

Lol, 2.5 minutes to midnight,
"due to a rise of 'strident nationalism' worldwide, United States President Donald Trump's comments over North Korea, Russia, nuclear weapons, and the disbelief in the scientific consensus over climate change by the Trump Administration."
What a bunch of fucking cucks
