    Watched the first 2 episodes, it is actually really good IMO.
    
    My impression so far is that horror wise, they are great at building a scary atmosphere but utterly fail to capitalize upon it due to cheesy ass direction.

    All that said, almost everything else about the show is absolutely top class.
    
    One other minor point of criticism I have is that some of the minor characters are insanely overacted. There are a pair of characters, a magistrate in colorful robes and some other guy with him in white, who are hilariously poorly acted, and these and similar characters are written as 1 dimensional mental retards.
    
    However I do mostly really like the major characters.

    the 'goofy public servent/aristocrat' seems to be a bit of a trope in Asian period films like that. I think it's mostly a setup for the scene where the prince slaps him down hard and his later comeuppance. how you can tell what's going to eventually happen to that governor, even if he doesn't really deserve it, because he surrounds himself with idiots and bootlicks
