2021-12-03 at 12:16 AM UTCDonbass is Russia. Russia pays for the schools and hospitals and pensions and other social benefits in the region. The people of Donbass chose that after the colour revolt in Kyiv replaced the democratically elected idiot, Yanukovich, with a gang of jedis.
The people in Donbass are ethnically Russia, and earn/receive about twice as under Russian governance as they would under Ukrainian administration.
The government of the Ukraine is disgusting, exploitative, and extractive, and run by jedis.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

Reality just doesn't support the attacking side in any of these narrowly populated, ageing, post soviet towns. So it could suffer an ageing population, declining birth rates, economic decline, demographic collapse, and mass emigration under a Russian flag instead of under a Ukrainian one?
At least the babushkas would have far more money under Moscow than they would under Kyiv. So from a humanitarian POV I suppose I have to support it.
Ultimately both sides would have been way better off under Berlin though.
I remember there was a period where there was a small outrage over Ukraine using cluster bombs in the donbass, but then they convinced the media that the separatists were also using cluster bombs (because some Ukrainian troops, which included child soldiers BTW, showed signs of being hit with the bombs) so they canceled each other out and nobody gave a shit -

I don't think either side seriously wants to fight. In Russia and Ukraine they both had to round up basically crazy nationalists, basically Nazis, to go fight each other, because the army troops just said fuck it all and dug in and declared that their positions couldn't be moved forward. Most Ukrainians, even in Kyiv, speak Russian. Most Ukrainians, except for in the west of the country, have some Russian blood. Maybe I'm just provincial, but I have never met a Ukrainian with any enthusiasm for slaughtering Russians.
Ukraine just seemed to me to be a nice, relaxed country with a massive jedi/corrupt oligarch problem and a severe ongoing economic depression (which are not unrelated). Just a nice country with nice people that couldn't get any worse. It's civilised and pleasant, and it's sad that it's not more wealthy and developed.
Amazing nature, lovely people, and cheap as could be. -
2021-12-03 at 1:09 AM UTCIf the workers in one jurisdiction earn twice as much as the the workers in another, despite doing similar work, my first instinct is to support the jurisdiction with the higher paid workers.
I have seen far too many very poor and very rich people in Ukraine for me to think that that country is run at all fairly.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -
