Stick welding is pretty cheap, pretty versatile, and is an easy entry point. No gas or anything to worry about besides the welder, some sticks (which are consumed), and some protection (proper welding gloves, a face shield, and some jeans).
Protip: Welding is not healthy. Do be careful of the fumes. They don't do the life expectancy of welders any favours. -

electric arc gives off dangerous uv rays and a variety of radioactive smokes.
blowtorches dont do that.
i stick welded a few hours shirtless once and got the sunburned equivalent to a full day at the beach. -
2020-05-14 at 12:06 PM UTCThere's more setup with blow-torches.
They are better for things like welding thin steel or pipes.
They also don't risk tripping the circuit breakers. -

Have you seen John Henry on Netflix? A blow torch is the villains weapon of choice. All he needed was a spark and the torch. Woah! -

Dunno. I live on a farm. Most things I would be welding would be fairly solid bits of steel. -

You can sit in on any class you want to, you just dont get credit. and obv they dont give you materials unless youve paid the materials fees but it was still cool to see. -
