That's my whole point warioat. I'm relentlessly self-critical to the point of paralysis. I will give up 15 minutes into any artistic endeavor because whatever I'm making is trash. I know I'm not a good artist. Which is why it fucking astounds me that you have the level of confidence you do, considering that your art is basically just what my art would be like if I didn't give up after 15 minutes. -

I will flat out admit that I am reflexively savage towards people when they share their attempts at art. I know the nice-person thing to do is being supportive and encouraging in the hopes that you further develop your skill. I've tried to tone it back in recent years, but seeing people proudly share stuff I would be ashamed of having created triggers something in me. I'm relentlessly self-critical to the point of paralysis when it comes to art, and the sheer confidence with which some people display garbage is deeply, viscerally offensive to me. -

i have a more advanced design that's similar, but this one is quicker to make, could make a nice gift for stoners or cigarette smokers
Would you even need a magnet attached to the wire? The motor turns by inducing a magnetic field of... some strength... in the wire itself, neh? I'm not even remotely knowledgeable about this stuff. Legit proud of myself for even figuring out you might wanna use the motion of the motor to make it pulse haha. If you end up making it you should post a vid of it in action or something. -

Sounds like a neat project. Where does the homopolar motor come into play though? Like wouldn't you just use a magnet to trip the reed switch? Don't see how spinning some copper wire around a AA battery is going to be particularly helpful with an arc generator. Gonna use the magnetic field in the wire to trip the switch so you get repeated intermittent arcing or what? -
