As kids, we were too poor to buy costumes, so we used to turn our coats inside out and do our best to get candies at the doors. Some people would answer and just stare at us, and then ask us if that was our costume. We said, yes, and some wouldn't give the candy, and others felt bad and would, and we'd go away happy.

Phil Neikro won a ton of games past the age of 40; Bartolo Colon can only dream of being as dominant, but Satchel Paige pitched until he was almost 60, plus in the negro leagues you'd play a gruelling schedule with much harsher conditions, sleeping in barns half the time.
