I mean I could try and CUM in the hard way (lol), and get a green card attached to an employer. I would likely succeed, though it's an expensive process - you've go to fly in on a tourist visa, got an employer to sponsor your green card, fly out, get the green card, then fly back in.
The one I applied for was the diversity (lololol) visa, which gives you a no strings green card, so I would not be some employers bitch. But it's essentially a lottery. -

No I mean Australian mainland itself. Not sure what state Tasmania compares to in size off the top of my head. -

IDK about you but I'd rather have sea than Canada or Mexico lol -
2020-09-07 at 4:04 AM UTC in The conservative life and worldviewI'm more of a reactionary I suppose. I don't believe in conservatism - modern conservatives are just mainstream liberals from 20-30 years ago.

there are houses near me being built for $400,000k (theyre decent middle-class houses that banks are financing)
every one is shit-tier construction. the concrete companies that lay the foundation are quick-in-quick-out…a bunch of mexicans do the concrete block walls…shit-tier stucco with cheapo-foam-stuccoed trim…EVERYthing is shit-tier OSB board…including roof deck…and the shingles are the cheapest they can find. interior customization and landscaping dont count.
these houses shouldnt cost more than $175k to build…and $200k would be profit. the developer told me theyve broke-even on the house at the first 'draw' (the bank doles out money in certain phases of construction called 'draws')…everything after is profit.
I meant 'cheap' as in 'inexpensive to buy', which housing was for a long time post war.
Mass builds seem pretty universally awful. I'm very partial to prefab, I don't give a fuck about having a "unique house". -

If you look at the most powerful people and institutions on this earth, not to mention the "tide of history", I think it's pretty clear which side is more influential, fashionable, trendy, and is on the side of power.
People like to pretend that there are two equal and opposing forces called "left" and "right", but it's more like a car speeding down the highway in one direction. The most a conservative can hope for is the occasional republican president who can put the brakes on, or stop for gas. Then, the journey resumes. -

Darwin has no appeal to me. A lot of humidity, "indigenous culture", small market, really overpriced.
Maybe I should just keep renting for the next 5 years. Investments are going well, and I save pretty well.
I do risk being locked out of the property market for years. But the upside of this is when the crash does happen, I could swoop in like a vulture, licking the tears of would be property moguls, and purchasing their firesale houses for peanuts. -

Originally posted by aldra Perth has far fewer people but is spread across a huge area so it's long drive to everything. That and I had a few friends spend a couple of years there after high school and they all came back fucked. Everyone under 25 there is a fucking mutant.
I've never actually been out to Perth. I've heard it's one of the rougher towns. Being in the middle of nowhere is kind of appealing though. -

2020-09-07 at 2:42 AM UTC in Should I buy a house in Australia?I live in NZ lol
Pros:
- House prices are a lot cheaper
- Better economy and cheaper food
- A lot of sunshine
- Friendly people
- Police seem to crack more skulls
Cons:
- Shit internet, which I rely on for business
- Massive parts of the country seem to burst into flame from time to time
- Suburban and Exurban sprawl is crazy
- It will be a PITA to become a permanent resident -
2020-09-07 at 2:21 AM UTC in Kill the OldOld people stay working much longer than they used to. And boomers benefit both from cheap mass produced housing when they were young, and expensive housing today.
Being an employee is a mugs game in 2020. Old people clog up the highest positions. The boomer economy of working for one company for 40 years then getting a fat pension at the end of it is dead. Go self employed. -
2020-09-07 at 12:14 AM UTC in Why is Speedy J so grumpy?Speedy J is an older gentleman who hangs around here. He's always got something petty to say to everyone, and he's always inviting younger male forum members to come to his house so he can extract fluids out of them. It's odd.
Why do you think he's such a negative nancy? By all accounts he's retired, has his own house and land, healthy, and should be enjoying his golden years. -
