No they don't. Scientists have done the research and wiping them out would have little effect. Other bugs would take their place as a food source. Not everything sits at some ecological point of balance. Some things can be wiped out without much notice. -

Those are the kind of mistakes people make when they actually, you know, speak Chinese and use a Chinese keyboard to do it.
汉子 literally just means man, but I guess whatever translator you used didn't separate it correctly and took the 汉 and the 子 separately.
汉字 is the characters. Maybe your translator will get that one correct.
Never mind that they're pronounced the exact same with the same tones and everything. -
