You have not studied up on your history. People within cities looked a lot more similar 2000yrs ago than they do now. Everyone in Israel was brown back then. Even Romans and Greeks were pretty dark skinned. More so than today.

It's not really a reconstruction. Not like we have Jesus' skull or anything. It's what he might have looked like based on what people looked like at the time. Our concept of what he looks like goes back to ~200 CE and is based on what the Greeks thought looked stylish
There are some other depictions which didn't quite catch on.
Artistic style back in Greco-Roman times was less about realism and more about creating a representative visual of the soul. That's why every face looks so pristine and child like, and they're always very muscular and well defined. Even today, depictions of Jesus on the cross show him absolutely fucking ripped. -
