I recall I was researching sleep cycle differences in ASD and came across the information that epileptiform discharge may have a very high occurrence, even among the high functioning. IIRC it was found through analysis of EEG data during sleep studies and the rate may have been as high as 60%, with waking epileptic seizures having a comorbidity of around 25%. They seem to be a much milder form.
When I experience these episodes it reminds of the only time I had an epileptic seizure, caused by post-acute withdrawal syndrome from binging on alcohol. My mind starts raising, neurological activity feels much higher, and I begin to lose control of my thoughts, although not necessarily to the extent that it's impossible to subdue and maintain control, and not in a manner that's the same as what occurs during psychosis or schizophrenia. Only time it's occurred is as I'm in the process of falling asleep.
On the plus side it does seem to function as a sort of reset for the brain. After an epileptic seizure occurs glutamate levels/activity may drop considerably. It's also possible it could upregulate or increase GABA levels, which has been found to occur in parts of the brain after ECT. This is a great effect.
On the other hand, I'm concerned about my sleep quality, which is strongly affected by isolation, anxiety, and depression. Ash wakes me up very easily when she meows, although, interestingly, I do recall that there's evidence that in the coevolution cats experienced with humans their meowing may actually have evolved to be at a surprisingly similar frequency, an aural pattern, as human babies crying, which of course would work great for getting your attention and care. Makes it easy to let her out when she needs to potty. Shame a cat door isn't possible and she doesn't seem to be litter box trained from being a stray. Will attempt to train her. Although not having to clean up is convenient, don't want to risk her pooping in here.
Try Picamilon two nights on/5 nights off. I always took it right before bed and it seemed to work like a charm. It could have been placebo effect but it was one hell of a placebo if I woke up feeling refreshed as can be when I otherwise wouldn't have under the same exact conditions. The 2/5 cycle is because of the diminishing returns and the stuff was dirt cheap for a noot when I bought it you may out $15 bucks worst case scenario. -

1. L-Dopa pills. I believe mine were 500mg.
2. Animal Pak Multi-vitamin. These come in a pringles like can and are literally "packs"; each bag contains something like 11 different pills but even when sober I could tell and notice a difference when I didn't take them.
3. L-Leucine - I believe these were around 800-1000 mg. I'm going with 1000 here. Theyre solid pills like tylenol but about 3 times as big. These could well be placebo as they're not proven to prevent skin breakouts but I never had a problem while using them.
4. L_tyrosine - Google it they get self explainatory pretty fast.
5. 5-HTP - Use sparingly; I think I took these every other day maybe once a day at most.
6. Magnesium Citrate 250mg - Meth depletes your body of this one pretty fast. Chances are your deficient in it from the get go over 60% of otherwise healthy people are.
7. Potassium/Gatorade - Same thing as above. You'll tell a huge difference from drinking this vs. Plain water at least I can.
8. Calcium tablets/Milk - Same as the last two.
Also get out and do something. I'd usually end up feeling like shit or worse than I should have just sitting around the house. There's a reason why it's sometimes called "GO'. Don't be afraid to eat either and certainly don't give up on it. Even a McMuffin at 4 am is better than nothing. Yogurt, Bananas, and any type of smoothy or sports drink concoction will be fabulously for your body when you're goin' hard on the shard. I'd get GNC brand protein powder it's cheap here literally $5 a pound. Not much else I can say it's a hardcore drug that's going to do damage regardless but you can minimize it to a point if you try. -
