Prior to Trump's policy of immediate criminal escalation, a tiny minority of illegal immigration was handled criminally. I.e. through our courts and in our fucking detention facilities. The only reason these cases were escalated to criminal prosecution was because someone was caught running drugs or weapons and shit, broke some law worth criminally prosecuting. Otherwise they were just processed for deportation and the host government is supposed to handle them.
All this does is remove the ability to escalate to criminal prosecution for JUST crossing the border. Because it's straight up not worth it. Why do you want to house and feed these illegals on our dime?
And no it's not a deterrent. Again that shit is 100% posturing.

The words "quid pro quo" are not the crime. Quid pro quo just means something for something. Corruption is provable by the fact that they offered to use their powers of office in exchange for personal political gain.
The problem is not him inquiring about an investigation that may or may not happen at some point, it's about him withholding Ukraine's aid on the condition that it does happen and within the timeframe he wanted, (acting contrary to our national commitment) for personal political gain.
Even whether or not he had actionable information is irrelevant if he took action selectively in order to undermine his political opponent.
And that is really the crux of it: are you honestly so massively fucking deluded that you actually believe, even at this point, that this inquest was to "find corruption" rather than an attempt to fuck over a political opponent?
