The Ukrainian government needs to look at what Germany did in WWII to stand a chance against Russia, according to Ben Hodges, former commander of US Army forces stationed in Europe.

Hodges, who retired as a lieutenant general in 2017, has long been an outspoken supporter of Ukraine. In an interview with the Australian YouTuber Perun, published over the weekend, he repeatedly cited examples from the Second World War to argue that Kiev can defeat Moscow on the battlefield.

“They are gonna have to increase production of ammunition and weapons in Ukraine,” Hodges said. “Some of these things are already happening, but it is possible when you are at war to increase production, even with Russian missiles raining down on your cities.

I mean, think about what Germany did in 1944. Aircraft production for the Luftwaffe peaked in 1944. That’s after more than two years of steady bombing by the Royal Air Force and the US Army Air Corps bombing the hell out of German cities. But yet German aircraft production increased. So I think Ukraine can do that with some improving efficiency. Some Western companies are already there helping,” he concluded.

Much of Ukraine’s military-industrial complex has been devastated by Russian bombardment over the past 20 months, forcing Kiev to rely on the West for everything from rifles to tanks, artillery and fighter jets. With NATO stockpiles approaching depletion, however, the US and its allies have suggested bolstering Kiev’s domestic military industry.

Comparisons of Ukraine with WWII Germany are awkward for several reasons, however. Moscow has repeatedly described the government in Kiev as a “Nazi regime,” pointing to the deliberate Nazi symbolism of units like ‘Azov’ as well as the official glorification of WWII collaborators such as Stepan Bandera. Ukrainian armed forces have also embraced many of the insignia used by the German Wehrmacht, as well as SS runes and divisional badges.

Hodges did not help his case by arguing that Ukraine needs to “improve their recruiting system to maximize available manpower,” including mobilizing “too many military-aged males and women walking around in Ukraine that should be in the military” as well as thousands of men who fled to the EU as refugees.

Ukraine has got to fix their recruiting system and get these fit, able-bodied men and women into uniform,” the general told Perun. His remarks came as Kiev debated expanding the draft to women to replenish the losses incurred during its failed summer counteroffensive.

Last month, the Russian intelligence agency SVR claimed that Ukraine’s Western backers, the US and the UK in particular, had demanded the mobilization of women as well as men as young as 17 and as old as 70. This prompted comparisons with Adolf Hitler’s September 1944 order creating the ‘Volkssturm’ militia. These units, made up of barely trained civilians, suffered horrific casualties in clashes with the Allied forces without making any difference to the outcome of the war.

❓ Could you have been described as naive in the 2000s?

💬 Vladimir Putin: Yes, there was some naivety <…> I had the naïve idea that the whole world, and above all, the so called “civilised” world realised what had happened to Russia, that it had become a different country, that there was no longer any ideological confrontation, which meant that there were no grounds for confrontation.

If there were any negative elements in the Western nations’ policies towards Russia (among other things, their support for separatism and terrorism in Russia was apparent, I saw it as director of the Federal Security Service), I gullibly believed that this was just inertia in thinking and action: they were used to fighting the Soviet Union and kept on doing it.

    <…>

Meanwhile, the reality was (I got a 100 percent confirmation of this later) that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, they thought that “we just need to be patient – and we will make Russia collapse, too.”

Such a big country by European standards, with the world’s largest territory and a fairly large population … “is generally redundant.” It would be better, as Brzezinski suggested, to split it into five parts and subjugate them separately, and to use their resources, but proceeding from the premise that all of them will lack weight on their own, they will not have their own voice or the ability to defend their national interests the way the Russian state is doing now.

It was only later that I realised that.

It's just a pointless slaughter now. Maybe some people think they are buying time for negotiations, but just like in 45, there are no negotiations happening. Zelensky is gone, mentally, not that he ever gave a fuck about Ukraine or goy Ukrainians, and the Russians have no interest in making concessions to a totally broken enemy anyway.

Russia's been open to negotiation from the beginning, up until now it's been the 'Ukrainian side' (orders from above) that's refused any negotations until Russia returns all the territory it holds including the Crimea.

people didn't believe me when I said Russia would just end up doing what it wanted and Zelensky would flee to israel if he lives that long, I think it was on the first page of this thread, but it was really self-evident from the beginning, even though the original plan to go to Kiev and flip the government failed

It was pointless slaughter to start with. From the beginning everyone with an IQ above antarctic room temperature saw that it was a kike-directed ethno-cleansing of whites. EVERY senior member of ukrainian government is a hebe.

Anyone with any strategic or tactical planning ability can see that every operation, despite its declared goals, has the outcome of increasing the body count. Conscripts are given only enough training and psychological motivation to get them to the battlefield, under equipped, without leadership, and in front of Russian weapons to be cut down like a field of wheat in front of a flamethrower.

    piss wrestling

apparently two guys from a Donetsk militia crept up to a trench wearing capes (maybe because they thought it was cool, maybe to try and hide from FLIR), one of them stabbed the lookout while he was distracted and the other lobbed a grenade into the trench (unknown number of men in there)

***actually no, not Donetsk militia, they're apparently a unit in the AKHMAT (Chechen-led) battalion

Supposedly a T55 suicide tank reaching Ukrainian lines.

Explosives work best when confined, this is the principle behind things like pipebombs and pressure cooker bombs.

I imagine the explosive compression inside a tank as it explodes is insane.

There are multiple different types of rounds and the costs depend on the particular round. The cheapest one...just a cast-iron body, HE filler, and fuzing system, costed about $300-$400. Something like the 155mm round that was supposed to be used on a zumwalt ships gun...that bitch was market up to $1,000,000. That wasn't a typo...the kike usurers want literally $1,000,000 for a 155mm round.

One that has a rocket-assist or advanced prevision guidance system costs around $100k

Some people learn from being told, some people need to see it happen for themselves before they learn, and some people actually need to touch the stove before they learn.
