They're a pretty fun tool with a lot to learn about and a lot of history.
Of course your perspective is more like that of a stupid hick with no appreciation for anything cerebral so I understand, you don't get it. -

Why wouldn't they if everyone with a legal gun did so?
Unless you want the cops to stop people open carrying and check their papers. And I really don't want to go down that road to fascism. -

Originally posted by Jiggaboo_Johnson This assumption fear is involved is really rather silly. Again it's about being prepared…just like taking an umbrella with you on a cloudy day. You are not scared of getting wet, you are simply preparing yourself in case it rains.
Also if the sight of a weapon scares you that's also rather silly. A person who is open carrying has a license (in the vast majority of cases), as such they have had training, know the law and are viewed as "one of the good guys". If you are in Walmart and see a 60yr old dude looking at socks with a piece on his hip he's probably safer than some random dude on the street at 11pm who isn't open carrying. VERY few open carry people have committed firearm crimes.
Logic, it's what's for elevenses.
In an open carry culture, how do you know if they're licensed or not?
You would have to create a social acceptance of "papers please" to enforce licensing on openly displayed firearms, where cops harass citizens with open carry to make sure it's all legit.
But if you don't do that, then what's to stop someone from illegally open carrying a firearm without a license?
It literally inverts the benefit of a CCW culture.
