It was fun for games but I wouldn't really say it improved immersion. Mostly programming or reading. I have mixed feelings about it, never really got any of the euphoria people talk about. Mostly it made me feel emotionally very neutral, calculating. Like it got me in the perfect headspace for minmaxing which is something I usually don't enjoy. Just really focused but not really caring.
I'd like to try some MXE sometime. I probably told this story before already, but back when I was ordering bulk amounts of 'bath salts' and undercutting the local head shops by literally standing outside and hitting up their customers by handing them a sample bag stapled to a business card with my burner phone number, my vendor gave me a substantial sample of MXE. I had no interest in it at the time, so I just had it sitting around.
One of my new bath salt customers was a small, wiry, greasy little speed freak who owned a tattoo parlor. Seeing a potential bonanza in getting in good with this guy, and all the business I could get from hanging around his shop, I gave him a really good deal and threw in the MXE free. I told him what it was, and started to explain what a disassociative is, but you know how it is on the streets, he was like "M-E-X-what?" I remember the next time he called me to re-up, he asked me 'Hey, whatever that stuff was, I loved it. I fuckin' loved it. Can you get any more of it?"
I said I could, but around that time I had other stuff going on, and also that was when my old lady got all religious and decided she wanted to end our relationship because we lived in sin and because I was/am a drug addict and a sinner, and in the turmoil of moving out and my family breaking apart, I got apathetic and just stopped re-upping research chems, the effort of maintaining and cultivating business relationships with the vendors was too much and I just stopped. I stopped maintaining my burner phone, lost contact with the tattoo guy, and just dropped the whole thing.
tl/dr? I had a chance to try MXE when I got a few grams free one time but I gave it away instead.
