I used to go into a store in Berkeley or San Francisco (I think it was street lights) where they had an adult comic book section called Comix.
the classic Robert Crumb and Obligatory Gilbert Sheldon (both worked at Hallmark in Ohio for several years, at the same time, and sat next to each other but never talked or new each other only to go on to becoming friends when they both moved to San Francisco around the same time. Robert was from Ohio and Sheldon from I believe Houston.
those were the magazines I would read in my teen years. I was listening to Joseph Gordon-Levitt on NPR radio out of Berkeley (my girlfriend listens to it and someone from her Buddhist group works there) and he was talking about living in Berkeley and his father running an adult comix store or something and how as a kid he would read them. but of course this would be late 80s or early 90s for him and for me mid 70s. I wonder if its the same store tough. -
