I'm not an expert in how to soldier, but your armour zooming off ahead of you and leaving you exposed seems like a bad thing.

I know Ukrainian soldiers aren't well trained or equipped just from what I've seen walking in Kyiv, but what sort of gamers are they sending to the front?

The lads in the east getting ready to kick off is very concerning, but there's not much anyone can do. As far as I can tell both the separatists and the nationalists are the scum of the earth, and the fighting is being done mostly by crazy hot heads and neo-nazi types. Both sides have a bunch of different militias going on and they are largely being funded by jedis (the irony). The whole thing is very unpredictable, and I hope the national governments can stay out of it and just let them slaughter each other. However the media is very much pushing for war.
The hot take on how World War I was started is basically that the wire services started informing events with news which was rife with jingoism and chauvism - on both sides. They took minor events and escalated them in the public consciousness until both sides were braying for war. There were different wire services in different countries, but they were all run by a small group of jedis who knew each other - Havas in France, Wolff in Germany, Reuters in Britain. They all trafficked in the same paranoia, chauvinism and fear. -

This pisses me off. The Dutch cancelled KLM flights from Amsterdam to Kyiv too. They did something similar during covid, they suddenly decided they wanted PCR tests in order for people to transit through Amsterdam. There is nothing about any invasion here, people are going about their days normally. We have enough to worry about here between left-over ice, thieves, and general poverty and corruption. For instance in Puzata Hata (kinda like Ukrainian McDonalds, with healthy traditional Ukrainian food) today some guy was going through jackets, and some woman got in a fight with him. I thought they must be a domestic couple, but no, they were strangers. I got up to separate them, but not knowing the language well I didn't even know what was going on. The current mask fetish is a god-send for thieves and scumbags.
The biggest indication something is wrong is the currency is down slightly, on the street it was 31-ish to the Euro when I arrived on Sunday, it's 32-ish now.
I watched some Zelensky TV shows, he is the current President of Ukraine but basically became famous doing a political skit comedy clown show. He's a really short jedi guy. Evergrande is just the Lehman Brothers of Chiner, the real problem is that now faith in the system has been destroyed, and people won't be investing in Chinese property so extravagantly. The Bat-Soup-Bandits have a huge property bubble going on, the biggest in the world. Irish news were beside the Ryanair desk and wanted to interview me when they seen the Kyiv tag on my luggage, but I was still hazy as it was 6:30am in the morning and I just said no. I should have said something like "it's not happening, but even if it was I'd go anyway", but that's just l'esprit d'escalier.
Groceries has some bug that could be omicron, we went to a restaurant, then shopping. I offered to buy her an iPhone but she said no, she said she wanted an iPhone before but decided they were a waste of money, I am proud of her for that. We went clothes shopping and got some groceries. Having some wine and food in a nice airbnb apartment. -
