it's possible but they're hard to track given they're made of plastic and foam for low radar cross-section and a 2-stroke motor for low thermal. that and it's not really worth shooting at a $20k drone with a $200k missile unless you know it's headed somewhere it's going to cause serious damage and you have no other options... best option is to use AA artillery like those Gepard guns Germany gave them but it's not always feasible.

in last year's waves of attacks Russia intentionally flooded the air with GERANs to distract air defence and give cover for the more expensive/dangerous missiles; there's not really much you can do about that without layered air defence and early warning. Iran's been experimenting with launching them off racks of 5 or so from the back of a moving pickup, which means they could potentially be coming from anywhere

Originally posted by ner vegas sure, but the point there is that the Iranian and Canadian embassies are so close to each other that attacking one could've easily damaged the other, the whole idea is insanely reckless.

I don't think there's any other takeaway than israel (or more specifically Bibi) is extremely desperate and again, insanely reckless. they need to escalate the war and draw in 'allies' because of how poorly it's going for them; there's no other explanation for this level of escalation combined with the possibility for collateral damage and unpredictable results aside from them feeling like they have little to lose

the more that I think about this, the more it seems that israel is intentionally trying to draw Iran into open warfare explicitly because they believe it'll force the US to enter the war on their side. they could not win a conventional war with Iran and even with their nuclear weapons the outcome would be questionable and devastating for both sides, regardless of who 'wins'.

if we understand this to be the goal and assume Iran understands the same, their next step will likely be either massive attacks on israeli assets outside of israel or giving more modern weapons (such as hypersonics) to allies and Shia militias, perhaps Yemen gets the latest ASBMs since they're already at war anyway. maybe Iran closes the Persian Gulf to states supporting israel in co-operation with Yemen. Maybe Hezbullah starts using long-range 'stealth' cruise missiles.

Normal people meet up, go have food and drinks together, have a good time.

Life doesn't have to be isolation and suffering.

Precisely. There's nothing wrong with meeting people that you met online. Some people are just too paranoid as if someone's going to attack them. If you're a woman, I can understand being careful but as a man, who has nothing to fear? Like, come on dude.. you're not that special. No one is going to harm you.

Originally posted by Donald Trump Me and GG met her. We went out, got food, and went to the pub and had drinks and went dancing. She's nice. She's socially isolated, and that doesn't do anyone any favours. I think she has social anxiety and is highly strung. As a result she comes across angsty and aggressive, but isn't really. I used to be the same. It's what happens when you are wired up for a more real era, and find yourself living in a sleepy, dopey, domesticated age like we live in today.

I was hoping to meet up again, but I was really busy and had a series of colds and other viral illnesses for some reason, so we didn't.

Sounds like you guys had a pleasant time. That makes sense, yeah. And hopefully you'll be able to meet up in the future again, assuming she's ok, which I really hope she is. But her last online presence was on this very forum and she hasn't been here since that last worrisome post.

  7. 1: Helped to end European imperialism.

After WW2, the dutch, Belgians, british and french where decimated by the occupation of their nations and the battles between them. After WW2, these nations did not have the manpower, economic capacity, or logistical capability to manage their colonies and to prevent rebellions. This led to most of africa being decolonized over the next 2 decades, and other colonies being abolished in suit.

    2: Technoligical advancements.

Before and during WW2, germany made many technological advancements, such as the creation of Fanta, the Autobahn, jet engines, and the world's first automatic assault rifle, among others.

3: Pulled Germany out of the great depression.

Even though Germany was pulled out of the great depression on borrowed time, the goods and services that came about because of the MEFO Bill's and other such things, where reinvested into the german economy.

He also killed a lot of jedis, I know a lot of people that like that.

If dis post gets 2 thanks, I'll make one for Stalin and one for Mao.

Over the last four years, the Trump administration and Democrats in Congress have made repeated overtures to cooperation on an infrastructure deal. But there is still next to nothing to show for Trump's promises, and much of the national infrastructure is simply four years older. Why couldn't Trump deliver a deal? And in swing states like Pennsylvania, with hundreds of deficient bridges, aging drinking water systems, and transit networks on the verge of pandemic-induced crisis, could that broken promise have consequences in the 2020 election?

According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, most of America's infrastructure is in poor condition, "with many elements approaching the end of their service life." ASCE gave the country a D+ on its 2017 "infrastructure report card," which assesses everything from ports and dams to transit, schools, and hazardous waste management. Pennsylvania fared slightly better than the U.S. as a whole in 2018, according to the ASCE, but got low grades for the state of its roads, bridges and transit and water systems. More than 18% of the state's 22,779 highway bridges are in poor condition, according to the report—a better rate than in 2014 but still twice the national average. Meanwhile, water-main breaks are increasing across the state — just this week, a water-main break in Montgomery County, outside Philadelphia, caused officials to issue a boil-water advisory for more than 30,000 households. Public water systems that provide drinking water for Pennsylvania's cities and towns face a $10.2 billion funding gap, according to the report. Only 10 percent of the funding needed to keep the state's wastewater systems in good condition over the next decade is available. Transit and highway projects tend to get the most attention from public officials, says Cathy Farrell, ASCE's co-chair for Pennsylvania's 2018 report card, but the need for investment goes deeper.

"There's categories of infrastructure that you don't necessarily see until it fails, but when it fails, it's a really bad failure," Farrell says.

Baltimore. Looks like a ship crashed into one of the pylons and brought the whole thing down, sending multiple cars and pedestrians into the river (though it was at 2am, so traffic was light)

    https://edition.cnn.com/us/live-news/baltimore-bridge-collapse-03-26-24-intl-hnk/index.html

Rescue workers in Baltimore are searching for about 20 people and multiple vehicles believed to have fallen into the Patapsco River after a major bridge at the city's port was struck by a large ship, a Fire Department spokesperson told CNN.
The official warned that the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a "mass casualty multi agency incident," and conditions were unsafe for rescuers due to "some cargo or retainers" hanging from the structure, freezing conditions and limited visibility.

Making sure your missiles actually light up is kinda a big deal.

I remember the same thing happened with the French in Syria, in one of the US missile attacks the French and British (maybe Germans) wanted to participate and fire a few off, the French ship spunked maybe 3 cruise missiles into the ocean in the same fashion, then sort of just sadly gave up

also, FAB-3000s are being prepped to be used with the UMPC (similar to JDAM, converts 'dumb' bombs to high precision glide bombs) complex. previously they'd only been using FAB-500 and FAB-1500 glide bombs (the number refers to the total weight in kilograms).
