The negro leagues typically played around the same number of games though but sometimes the fields had short "porches" (will allow you to make a tasteless joke here) which made hitting home runs alot easier.
Generally speaking Satchel Paige is one of the greatest players of all time, regardless of race. No one since has ever come close to pitching at the major league level at 60. I think CC Sabathia got the closest -
