My dad was an ex-Marine and very athletic having won second in state wrestling in high school. He was of the "Gotta get the kid's attention first." school of discipline. We butted heads a lot in high school.
He provided a good life for me, my brothers and sisters. We lived on a very quiet cul-de-sac and had a family farm on a river as well as retired on a lakefront property in a house he designed himself and was always happy to see me and the kids come out to fish, swim, etc.
He was my best friend when he passed. He was always willing to help with any project I needed help with and, while he never went to college, was one of the smartest people I've known.
Still miss you, dad.

Mitt Romney yesterday was the first Senator to defy his party and vote to convict his party's President. Kudos to him. While I disagree with most of his politics, I appreciate the balls it took to put his country above his party. Well done, Mitt!

Two errors I see in your above statement. First of all, almost all thermostats are low voltage (24 vac). Secondly, almost all thermostats these days don't use mercury switches. The only one I can think of is the old round, gold standard Honeywell T87F. They have a digital version of it nowadays that doesn't use mercury. Old mercury style thermostats have a much larger "swing" than the more accurate digital ones.
