A return to reality and an agreement to believe the actual truth would be nice.
Banning Trump is a start. Him dying would be even nicer but then the crazies will probably bestow sainthood on him. Fucking whackadoodles. -

Statistics show the stark risks of not getting vaccinated against COVID-19
As top health officials warn that COVID-19 has become a "pandemic of the unvaccinated," recent figures from states and cities throughout the United States reveal the extent to which the virus is impacting people who are not fully inoculated.
A stark case in point: During June, every person who died of COVID-19 in Maryland was unvaccinated, according to a spokesperson for the governor's office. There were 130 people who died of COVID-19 in Maryland in June, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
New COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations were also predominantly among unvaccinated people, the state said, at 95% and 93% respectively.
Other states have reported similar findings while urging people to get vaccinated as the more transmissible delta variant is driving up COVID-19 cases.
In Louisiana, 97% of the state's COVID-19 cases and deaths since February have been in unvaccinated people, Gov. John Bel Edwards said Friday. Between February and July, unvaccinated people in Louisiana were 20 times more likely to become infected with COVID-19, according to the state health department.
Those figures were reported as state health officials warned Louisiana is now in a "fourth surge" of the virus; as of Friday, the statewide average daily number of cases per 100,000 residents were up 177% over the past 14 days. The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations also doubled during that time, health officials said.
With the delta variant now the most dominant strain in Louisiana, about 46% of adults in the state are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.
"We only have two choices, we are either going to get vaccinated and end the pandemic or we are going to accept death, a lot of it, this surge and another surge and possibly another variant,” infectious disease specialist Dr. Catherine O’Neal said during a state COVID-19 press briefing Friday.
In Alabama, over 96% of COVID-19 deaths since April 1 were in unvaccinated people, the state health department said on July 13, for 509 deaths out of 529 total. Over 42% of adults in the state are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.
In Los Angeles County, nearly every COVID-19 case, hospitalization and death is in unvaccinated people, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported on July 12. Of the 1,059 new cases reported that day, nearly 87% were in people under the age of 50.
"The COVID-19 vaccines are the most effective and important tool to reduce COVID-19 transmission and the spread of variants like the highly transmissible delta variant," Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said in a statement.
Due to a "rapid rise" in COVID-19 cases in the county, from 210 reported on June 15 to 1,537 two months later – local officials reinstated a mandatory indoor mask mandate, regardless of vaccination status, over the weekend. Over 60% of county residents ages 16 and up are fully vaccinated.
New York City Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi said the vaccines are "astonishingly effective" while sharing that over 98% of COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths in the city between Jan. 1 and June 15 were in people who were not fully vaccinated. That included 8,069 deaths in people who were not fully vaccinated. Over 64% of NYC adults are fully vaccinated.
The national picture is unclear, through in mid-June, former White House COVID-19 adviser Andy Slavitt said in an interview with The Washington Post that "98, 99-plus percent of people that are being hospitalized and dying with COVID have not been vaccinated."
As parts of the country with low vaccination rates are seeing outbreaks of COVID-19, "there is a clear message that is coming through," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during a press briefing Friday. "This is becoming a pandemic of the unvaccinated."
"Communities that are fully vaccinated are generally faring well," she added.
Over 56% of those ages 12 and up in the U.S. are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.
Clinical trials showed that the COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at preventing serious disease and death. Breakthrough cases – when a fully vaccinated person becomes infected with COVID-19 – are rare after full vaccination; a recent CDC report found that they may occur in just 0.01% of all fully vaccinated people.
"The message, loud and clear, that we need to reiterate is that these vaccines continue to [provide] strong protection against SARS-CoV-2, including the delta variant," Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, said during Friday's White House briefing, calling the delta variant "formidable." "It's so important for yourself, your family and your community to get vaccinated." -

JUST IN: Trump Trying to Block Handwritten Notes and Draft of Jan. 6 Speech From Capitol Insurrection Committee
Tommy Christopher
New court filings show that former President Donald Trump is trying to block the committee in investigating the Capitol insurrection from receiving documents that include handwritten notes, phone logs, and even a draft of his Jan. 6 speech.
A court filing entered Saturday morning reveals for the first time what some of the documents Trump is trying to block from the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.
Politico reports that the filing sheds light on the types of documents that Trump has been trying to “suppress” as the committee investigates the events that led up to and followed the attack on the Capitol, and the attack itself:
The National Archives indicated that many files were drawn from the systems of key Trump aides including former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, adviser Stephen Miller and deputy counsel Patrick Philbin.
Other documents include “draft text of a presidential speech for the January 6, 2021, Save America March; a handwritten list of potential or scheduled briefings and telephone calls concerning election issues; and a draft Executive Order concerning election integrity … a draft proclamation honoring deceased Capitol Police officers Brian Sicknick and Howard Liebengood, and associated e-mails from the Office of the Executive Clerk, which relate to the Select Committee’s interest in the White House’s response to the Capitol attack.”
“These records all relate to the events on or about January 6, and may assist the Select Committee’s investigation into that day, including what was occurring at the White House immediately before, during and after the January 6 attack,” Justice Department attorneys, acting on behalf of Archivist David Ferriero, wrote in the filing.
President Joe Biden has repeatedly denied requests by Trump to shield documents under the principle of executive privilege, earning Trump’s ire. -

Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett side with liberal justices, decline to block Maine's vaccine mandate for health workers with religious objections
kvlamis@insider.com (Kelsey Vlamis)
The Supreme Court denied a request brought by healthcare workers seeking to skirt a vaccine mandate.
The court declined to stop Maine from requiring those with religious exemptions to get vaccinated.
Justices John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett sided with the liberal justices.
In a ruling Friday, the Supreme Court declined to block Maine from requiring vaccine mandates for healthcare workers who object on religious grounds.
Maine requires all healthcare workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and does not grant religious exemptions.
A group of healthcare workers sought an emergency order from the Supreme Court that would block the requirement for those with religious objections.
The court voted 6-3, with conservative Justices John Roberts and Trump-appointees Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett siding with the liberal justices.
The majority did not give a reason for the decision, but conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch, joined by Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, issued a long dissent.
"Unlike comparable rules in most other States, Maine's rule contains no exemption for those whose sincerely held religious beliefs preclude them from accepting the vaccination," Gorsuch wrote, adding that the healthcare workers who sought relief from the rule have served on the frontlines throughout the pandemic.
"Yet, with Maine's new rule coming into effect, one of the applicants has already lost her job for refusing to betray her faith; another risks the imminent loss of his medical practice," he continued.
Barrett, joined by Kavanaugh in a concurring opinion, briefly remarked on their decision to block the request, citing the fact that the case was brought on the shadow docket, or as an emergency appeal. Shadow docket cases do not involve oral arguments or full rulings that are part of normal cases.
Barrett said the shadow docket should not be used for such a case, and that the court should not make this decision "on a short fuse without benefit of full briefing and oral argument," implying she and Kavanaugh could vote differently if the case came before the court in a different way.
Maine has required healthcare workers to receive certain vaccinations for decades. In 2019, prior to the pandemic, a state law removed religious and philosophical exemptions. The law, which took effect in September of this year, was adopted after 73% of Maine voters supported it in a referendum, according to The New York Times.
In August, Barrett also rejected a request to block Indiana University's vaccine requirement for students, though she did not provide a reason. However, she made the decision without consulting other justices, as justices are allowed to do on emergency appeals, suggesting she did not think there was much legal justification for the request. -
