I got my doner mushroom off of an ash tree and put it to agar and regrew it 3 times in petri dishes till I got a pure culture, started on straw till I realized it was messy so I switched to saw dust pellets and soy hulls, my lab or clean room is a joke but its cold up here and I havent had any issues with contamination during inoculation except one spawn bag that had a small bad spot that I cut out then used leading to the 26 bags that went bad.

You should invest in an airlock system. I made mine from greenhouse poly and these stick on zipper things.

Shrooms are not difficult, among clandestine drug chemistry growing shrooms is the bottom rung along with weed growing, literally anyone can learn it. I first got into mycology in my teens but you could teach it to young children.

There are some very difficult mushrooms out there to grow and even harder plants to cultivate in general.
