I used to be a warehouse manager…there is no "Skill" required in using a hand jack, electric pallet jack, forklift or 537 (whatever it was called)
I remember doing my forklift license…from never having used one to being forklift certified in 30 mins..
..that's not having "marketable skills".
Again those were just EXAMPLES yeah I actually don't have any valid machine licenses they all expired last year and im probably not gonna get them again any time soon
Been there done that etc.. I'm onto bigger and better things
And yeah I agree a pallet jack shouldn't require a meterial handling course or even an internal training (and doesn't,) but some places make you do it anyways and it's always like 80% of people never used one
Electric ones are different maybe legally but I used one for years without any ,training . They are pretty simple to operate
I'm pretty over machine operating it's too much RESPONSIBILITY and you can get written up for someone else's mistake, fuck that. I love watching new operators that are nervous and Knock shit over WATCHING FROM A VERY FAR DISTANCE MIND YOU -

It's just an example that most people my age have NO EXPERIENCE doing much besides some shitty retail job or whatever, I got licenses and certifications. I think stuff like MATERIAL HANDLING CERTIFICATION and WHIMIS is a bunch of B.S compared to a machine operator license or something, but it looks good on a resume
