I don't understand why religious people use their religious belief to deny scientific theory when the theory is more or less 100% truth. Maybe it's impossible or VERY difficult for people to reach higher states of religious understanding without some sort of ritualistic MAGIC, every church has their own "version" of this with BLOOD AND FLESH bread and wine being the most basic I think. But something like ERGOT wine seems more holy to me.
That seems to align more with the idea of a eucharist that can supposedly harm you if you don't take it "properly" but Calvinists who don't believe in the "real presence" in the wine and bread will say that nothing physically happens to you, which is true.
But if we only consider Ergot Wine being THE BLOOD OF CHRIST than it actually DOES have real consequences that can literally kill you via POISON if you take too much or you have a bad reaction.
I think if you are taking a substance that could kill you and you survive the experience that's more holy than other things. I don't know why I believe this but it seems right to me
