If something has the POSSIBILITY of being a threat to life it's best to err on the side of caution when unknowns are involved.

The point is wearing a mask LOWERS the chance of transmission...it doesn't total prevent the chance.
If I wear a mask and cough on 1000 people while infected...
and then I take the mask off and cough on 1000 other people
..the infection rate will MOST LIKELY be higher in those 1000 who I coughed on without the mask.
You're old enough to understand how preventative measures work.
as for your 1 virus thing...1000 viruses are more likely to infect someone that 1 etc...same principle.
