One time, when I was 11, my friend Jake and I were riding our bikes to the bowling alley during the summer.
We were at the crosswalk to one of the on-ramps of the main east and west interstate here. It's kind of poorly set up because the lane to go into it is really short, so as you're looking left to see when you can cross, it can be deceptive as some cars in the right lane going straight, presumably, will shift into the lane at the last second to get onto the highway.
So anyway in my story I ended up thinking the coast was clear and started biking across and then suddenly I heard this pickup screech the fick out of his tires slamming on the brakes and stopping mere inches behind me.
He was pissed obviously. I was pissed too. I think we both flipped each other off. I just think about how it's good that cell phones didnt exist then and he wasnt adjusting his radio or anything because I should have been dead.
