You probably don't even have to clean it, I think the aggregate can be used directly in a bitch reduction but nobody has ever tried this yet.
0% chance you are on a watchlist, the only people who care about this stuff are the DEA but they are mostly looking for the newest hip precursor so they can add it to their chemical watchlist. All this stuff is OTC anyways.

Biggest cost would be lithium/sodium metal, especially lithium from batteries. There are some pretty clever methods of obtaining it though.

It's actually really easy, it's like a 100 year old reaction. Extracting pills is much more difficult and takes up the bulk of the work.
You can practice extracting other kinds of pills also so you don't waste precursors.

Extracting pills has become quite a chore. The ephedrine supplement pills are a lot easier than OTC cold medicine.
You still have to deal with the usual suspects like starch, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose and dyes but the ephedrine pills aren't usually formulated with weird hidden binders.
If you treat them like regular Sudafed you should get a clean extraction. Just make sure you follow a guide written in the past few years, any variation of the tetra trap should work
Best basifying agent is sodium carbonate, make it easily by putting baking soda in the oven at a high temp and gassing off the CO2. Don't use any water or strong bases like lye, it will set off hidden binders (gak) that will turn it into jello that doesn't dissolve in solvents

I put on every resume that I have a college degree but I don't really apply for jobs in my field so it's whatever. I like university, it's a good environment and yes, professors push agendas but kids need to know some things aren't cut and dry. the best prof I ever had is a completely cynic with a squeaky voice who taught classes on political violence and spycraft. I would definitely hide a body with him and he was very engaging in class. Every other prof hated him but I googled him and he's done some great things he never talked about.
anyways, school is what you make of it. 20k over a couple years really isn't shit. if you're just in it to make money then get a trade and work in oil and gas. if you want a more informed worldview and to learn things in an environment where you're encouraged to do so, go to university, then you can just become a college dropout like kanye westThe following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

Enough research has been put into the subject of home made precursors that it can be done at an affordable scale.
The only things you ever really need to purchase are solvents and starting materials or the odd building block compound like 2-amino-2'-chloro-5-nitrobenzophenone which can still be made somewhat easily.
