This isn't because of the government. They were trying to use this data to push a copyright infringement case through the court, now there is no case because the data has been deleted by hackers.
This is the best outcome for everyone. Some lone insane actor black swan event said "Fuck it" and had no loyalty to waybackmachine, or the government and deleted everything just because they can. This aligns perfectly with effective accelerationism as preserving data does not move technology fast enough. We should be actively trying to send humanity back to the stone age and blowing up computers which will create market incentive to make them not explode so easily.
