Posts That Were Thanked by Speedy Parker

  1. An owl walks into a bar, and hops up on a stool. “Pull me a Guiness,” he says.

The bartender is a bit confused because he never had a talking animal in his bar before, but the owl has a little drawstring purse around his neck and puts the money down on the bar. So the bartender pulls him his Guiness, and as he’s handing it to the fellow, he notices that the owl has one wing in a splint, dried blood on his chest and missing feathers.

“Looks like something pretty bad happened to you,” says the bartender sympathetically,

“Oh, man, you got that right!” says the owl. “I just left the ER, and lemme tell you, I’m lucky to be alive! I was walking across the road, in the crosswalk just like I was supposed to be, when a car came out of nowhere and hit me!”

The bartender is puzzled, and he asks, “Why were you walking across the road?”

The owl gets angry. “Okay, buddy. I didn’t know this was a racist bar! I’ll just finish my Guiness and leave. I know where I’m not wanted!”

The bartender is taken aback. “Racist? What do you mean , racist! I’m no racist! This isn’t a racist bar!”

“Oh yeah? Like you weren’t about to make a chicken joke?!”

If you are an obedient citizen who obeys without question every command the government gives, you go on the approved citizen list and get a QR code you have to show as proof to get into businesses and venues. If you're a "non-compliant" citizen exerting your constitutional rights, then you go on the unapproved citizens list, and you are refused the QR code, and therefore banned from a vast number of retail businesses and government facilities, such as hospitals, police stations, doctor offices, malls, bars, concerts, etc.. As long as you are blindly obedient, even to unlawful orders and unlawful decrees and unlawful mandates, you're fine, otherwise, you're an "enemy combatant".

then we should take personal responsibility for your continued maintenance as you deteriorate and literally become a useless shitstain on society and pay unprecedented tax for your geriatric care, debt ceiling be damned and "no to socialism!" be damned.

Not true, Kev. Minimum Wage was 4.25 cents in 1988 (or around)

Minimum wage is now 15 (Jan 1st 2022) across the state for business over 25 employees and 14 for under 25 people

the dollar since 1988 has devalued 2/3rds the dollar value of 1988. so that means we made about 12.75 cents compared to your 15 dollars.

also Interest rates where between 12-15% depending on your FICO range. a poor FICO was around 14.8 percent and a decent was around 13.5 while anything over 770 was 12%

your current interest rates are between 3-4 right now. this means your payments per month are literally 1/4th of what they were when we were younger. a condo or house was 1/3rd the cost as today. but again, based on the adjustment for inflation, you're out on top about 30-40 percent less than what we had it at.

you can get a house for 0 down now. not just 2 percent as before. there are new loans that can happen.

You guys got it so fucking good compared to us. Electronics are way better and dirt cheap compared to the analog ones we had. however ours were built better and last 20 years and not 7-8 years. but they're cheap enough to be disposable.

You wish death on the very generation who made your world what it is in the good sense.

You're responsible for making the shitty repetitive music you have when ours was written like poetry or an opera. it has different structures of lifts and bridging and chorus. you just have baseline structures.

You did it to yourselves. stop blaming Boomers and wishing they would die off.

So what you're saying is that the vaccines are 100% safe, with a perfect safety record, masks work to slow the spread of the virus but nothing more, and immigrants moving around doesn't affect the disease dispersion in any way (even at times while the rest of us are locked down).

    The New York Times
China Keeps 13 Million in Xi’an Under Strict Lockdown
    Vivian Wang and Joy Dong

China, racing to control one of its worst outbreaks in a single city since the beginning of the pandemic, has put in place a sweeping lockdown and mass testing drives, making clear that the country has no intention of abandoning its “zero Covid” policy.

Even as a growing number of countries turn away from hard lockdowns, believing their economic and human costs to be too great, the Chinese government has continued to implement harsh restrictions.

The city of Xi’an, in northwestern China, recorded 1,117 infections between Dec. 9 and Dec. 29, according to the government. In response, officials locked down the city of 13 million on Dec. 22, closing schools and most businesses and largely barring people from leaving home.

They ordered daily testing for residents of several districts, setting up nearly 12,000 sampling stations and deploying more than 160,000 workers. Other workers were ordered to spray the city with clouds of disinfectant for a “full-scale” deep cleaning.

Officials have attributed the spike in Xi’an to the Delta variant. China has announced only a handful of Omicron cases.

Xi’an is one of the largest Chinese cities to be locked down since the authorities sealed off Wuhan, where the coronavirus was first discovered, in January 2020. It is a popular tourist destination, known as the home of the ancient Terra Cotta Warriors.

Even in a country where abrupt lockdowns and strict epidemic-control rules have become the norm, the severe measures have prompted concern. On social media, residents have complained of having trouble ordering food online. The hashtag “Grocery shopping in Xi’an is hard” has been viewed 300 million times on Weibo, a social media platform. Censors deleted some of those posts, but officials acknowledged on Wednesday that the escalation of restrictions had contributed to logistics and staffing problems.

The number of infections in Xi’an, though high for China, is minuscule compared with caseloads elsewhere. New York City, for example, recorded nearly 40,000 new cases on Wednesday alone. But China, which is virtually the last country still trying to eliminate the virus rather than live with it, has rejected any suggestion of loosening its controls.

The lockdown comes as Beijing is set to host the Winter Olympics in February amid escalating geopolitical tensions between China and the West. And the Chinese Communist Party is eager to ensure that the Games go smoothly.

Officials elsewhere in China have adopted extreme measures to control the virus, too. In the southern region of Guangxi, the police on Tuesday paraded four people accused of violating epidemic restrictions through the streets, with boards displaying their photos and names. The practice was quickly denounced by state-run media outlets, which noted that such public shaming is illegal in China.

You lockdown nutjobs would be a perfect fit in China.

  11. "so my generation must deal with getting paid 1/3 the wage of yours"

Yeah, when you are young you get paid a lot less than the older experienced folk...again it's always been like that. When I was 20 I was getting paid a lot less than someone 50yrs old who'd been doing the job for as long as I'd been alive...nothing generationally new there at all. You have to EARN your way up the ladder.

...if you are still on the bottom rung when you ARE 50...again, that's on you.

Also when you're 50 and a 20yr old walks in you'll laugh at him too when he demands to be paid the same as you...

Wariat, besides it being viewed as pedophilia and you're just one moment away from being beaten to death by a very protective family or go to Polish Goulag and be beaten to death by some drug lord whose daughter was raped by someone like you,

I have to ask. Is your mental age 13? besides the fact of being the lowest form of creepy on the planet, do you not find it annoying to be with someone that age.

If you're going to be merry and happy and full of love of family and friends, you should be doing that every single day, not once a year. The reason people only do it once a year is because they're mind-controlled hypocrites.

VAERS is the only reporting system, it isn't mandatory, and thanks to pharmaceutical lobbying and kickbacks doctors in the US actively fight against making the connection between vaccines and injury and especially avoid recording potential adverse effects. Pfizer's own pilot test program was kept secret and only leaked recently, showing even they knew that adverse effects were widespread.

we aren't serious about finding out whether the treatments are actually safe. if we were, we would've done what Japan has just now started doing from the start - requiring informed consent and warning of serious cardiovascular side effects, investigating the link between any cardio/neuro event that occurs within 2 weeks of treatment, and making disciplinary action possible for any doctor that refuses to take those complaints seriously.
