Now this may seem on its face like the music of girls of Soph's liking and that is obviously the target demographic. There are a number of pop music artists who are taking their art to a higher level. Poppy or That Poppy is the most obvious of these because of her ongoing social media stunt. But Poppy had a number of predecessors who did something very similiar with their work in making philosophically contrived music and following it up with a social media personality. But when you leave out the easy analysis that sm persona allows one has to analyze the lyrics and musical style.
Let us take Starring Role. It is a profound expose on the idea that absolute power corrupts absolutely. The important modifer would be that those that attract absolute power are inherently corrupt.

It explores the numbness as a social disease and promotes the avenue that darkness cultivates light. Marina literally tells you she is in hell and explains that she is there because she only cares to be number one. The rest of the song is an argument for why a personal hell cultivates light and how that light is inherently short lived.
https://youtu.be/ylLpplWSrNk?list=RDZNE-7DyLJ5wIn Are You Satisfied? she expands on this philosophy. It is at both a celebration of her own success and a fuck you to those who doubted her potential. Her inquiry to your satisfaction at an easy life is a fuck you because it pokes at the people who said her hellbound philosophy would never work out yet they are not in her pop cultural position. The song points out that her depressions and darker aspirations allow her success.

The breakup with what doesnt give you love, dreams and a good self esteem. It is an acceptance of her depressed state and apathy and of her weakness and selfishness. It is her anthem to leaving behind what isnt good and true but also a lamentation seeking to do it just one last time and to have one more night. It is a sort of last goodbye to what is holding her back and a summoning of what good is to come.
https://youtu.be/gDr7aTfBffU?list=RDZNE-7DyLJ5wLonely Hearts Club brings us to an admition of being a person who accepts the dark and faces certian harsh truths of themselves. It asks the question of if you want to be with somebody like that. And it is a valid question because for all of her vanity and energy her mode of being is a difficult pill to swallow.
https://youtu.be/boA8sRT4JPU?list=RDZNE-7DyLJ5wWhen we get to savages we see those hard truths she accepts. Humans arent gonna behave. She is not afraid of God, but rather afraid of man. We live we die, we kill we steal we lie. These ideas are not hard to understand but they are hard to accept. They are indeed troubling. It is an acceptance of human savagery and accepts the fact that man is just learning to crawl. Inside this is an overwhealing fear of what happens when you run but are at the crawling stage. But inside that is the understanding that one has to overtake that fear in order to run.
https://youtu.be/rxaTAFXgykU?list=RDZNE-7DyLJ5wFinally we reach How to be a Heartbreaker. It lays out the rules accordingly. 1. you got to have fun. But when you are done you gotta be the first to run. 2. Just dont get attached to somebody you could lose. In the interlude it gives methods of achieving this goal. Shadow yourself is its essence. 3. Wear your heart on your cheek, but never on your sleeve. 4. Gotta be looking pure. Why does where you wear your heart matter? Because wearing it on your cheek puts it closer to your observatory organs. The need to "look pure" is stressed. Why? Because if you look pure you are much more enticing especially if you are impure. This is Marina's thesis. It is her practical guide to living.
