IRAQ - ISIS has fielded chemical weapons, presumably chlorine for the third time this week in Mosul.
There seems to be an escalating trend of the rebels using chemical weapons - I think I posted previously that SAA troops are reporting they're being attacked with Sarin and Chlorine up to several times a day now in north Damascus, they see plenty of injuries but few fatalities because they know what to expect and those units now carry respirators and antidotes.
It's strange that it doesn't make the news, not even SANA - I suspect they don't want to report on chemical weapons at all for fear of being blamed.

I was digging into what little information there is on NK's military hardware earlier, it seems that of what IS known, their gear is not exactly high-tech but effective nonetheless. Because of the crippling sanctions they haven't been able to import much of anything; the majority of their small arms and vehicles are their own designs based on Soviet gear or other plans they could get their hands on.
They definitely have SAMs capable of keeping out modern bombers and long range artillery capable of pounding a target anywhere on the island, but I don't think they have anything that'll effectively stop a fusillade of cruise missiles like the US recently dumped on Syria (missile ships can easily outrange artillery).

SYRIA - FSA (mostly Turkish-backed moderate jihadis) and SDF (US-supported Kurdish militias) have been getting into it north of Aleppo. It's apparently getting serious enough that the Raqqa offensive will have to be put on hold until it's sorted out.
Allegiances are messy here - technically the US supports both sides; they fund and operate with what they call the FSA and also support (to a greater extent) the SDF. The FSA are largely controlled by Turkey though, so they carry Erdogan's Kurd murderboner like a rigid, sandy flag, falling on the side of Turkish interests when they have to choose between Turks/US.
The SDF don't explicitly follow the orders of the US either; they're grouping together in an effort to fight ISIS but they've demonstrated in the past that they (mostly) want to keep a unified Syria and still support Assad and the SAA.
The FSA are inextricably tied to Al-Qaeda (despite the US' assurances otherwise), and the CIA exerts a large degree of control over AQ. The massive infighting going on among the rebel groups as they're forcibly collapsed means it's unlikely one is going to be able to (peacefully) exert influence over another though.
On a similar note, there are indications that ISIS is trying to merge with AQ - on the face of it it's very unlikely because both want to be in charge, but it's more likely if the CIA choose to broker a deal.
