   there are literally millions of people that could disappear and nobody would care - MKULTRA and associated projects specifically disappeared people without a next of kin contact from mental institutions and were never detected that way. nowadays they wouldn't even need a lookalike, they can effectively control any media that comes out of the 'suicide' investigation so all they'd need is a body. if they were feeling particularly brazen they could just bury a sack of potatoes and use CG/photoshop to release media of it.

    I'm not saying that's necessarily what happened but given that it seems very unlikely he actually killed himself, smuggling him out of prison and faking his death would've been a safer option for 'them' than actually sending a team in to kill him.
    
    like someone else said if that was the goal, all they had to do was put a few hundred dollars on some other prisoners' accounts and have them turn him inside out with sharpened toothbrushes
