2017-05-08 at 5:27 PM UTC in Feeling superior is such a frontI often like to play devil's advocate in a debate, at least for a short while, not to be right or difficult, but to ensure all angles are considered. I'll provide my insight and opinion when necessary, but I like to probe and ask questions to learn more about the topic and about how the other parties feel.

2017-05-08 at 4:55 PM UTC in What musical instruments do you play?Dupe thread, though it was derailed by RisiR and this thread is much better.

My response from there:
Excellent on drums and other percussive instruments. Though it sounds nerdy, I enjoyed band in school. Tenor drums in marching band, everything else in symphonic band. I tended to gravitate towards the timpani and snare, but enjoyed other things. I was decent at marimba/xylophone/etc. after I memorized the music, but I have room to improve in sight reading. I can sight read easily for the other percussion instruments, but melodic instruments took me a little longer to get the notes down. I had a drum set for several years that I enjoyed, but I no longer have it.
Piano, same as above. Proficient after memorizing the music, which is why I mainly play by ear.
Average on bass, though again, by ear or by tabs. Rudimentary on guitar. I have a few basic songs (by ear or originals), but lots of room to improve on technique and sight reading. I cheat with power chords and drop-D tuning.
I also dabbled a bit on the recorder in my young years. -
2017-05-08 at 1:07 PM UTC in Feeling superior is such a frontDo you guys have opinions where you are like "I'm probably wrong about that"?

2017-05-08 at 1:01 PM UTC in Feeling superior is such a frontAn 'I'm always right' attitude is a like having a lighthouse on your head but instead of light it just blasts "dunning-kruger" in all directions. Sometimes even audibly, Doppler effect notwithstanding.

2017-05-08 at 11:40 AM UTC in What musical instruments do you play?Nothing is up, Lanlan. You fixed the site so when I post from my phone I don't have to edit paragraphs into it like before- I always wrote with paragraphs but your shit site would just block it up when I submitted. Several others complained and also vouched to that issue I was having back then. As soon as it was fixed paragraphs returned. Yay!
Yep... Alive. Still...
Ive been using playing as an outlet and a coping mechanism for my anxiety and stress. It helps a lot. I recommend you get a keyboard and try, so something.. Fuck a ukulele even is cheap and easy to learn on. Making Music is different than other types of art in that when you're making it you a few just in the moment and can enjoy what you're creating... At least that's how it is for me.
I got all my instruments cheap, if not paying a dime at all. There was... Things that happened that helped me aquire them. As for having the time... Well, I haven't been working much due to my health, but where ever I go I take the guitar or mandolin and play if I have free time or a break. -

2017-05-08 at 7:33 AM UTC in Feeling superior is such a frontI agree but when you are right you are right. For the most part any debate you partake in these days lays it's basis in emotion anyway so facts and logic tend to go out the window.
I definitly have a superior mentality or superiority complex but i dont really get upset if someone tells me things i dont agree with. I just tend to think "oh that person is just an idiot" and as long as i dont say that its fine. Also being okay with saying you dont know something and or not correcting every trivial mistake makes someone superior by default imo.
Id rather work with a smiling idiot than an Ummmm Akshually. -

It's pretty fucking obvious who's a hard worker and who isn't. Like right now at my job I'm doing exactly the same as my co-workers because we are professionals and we're paid to fuck up mice and take notes. But at like a pizza joint or something all you gotta do is look for the guy who's always on his phone and then look for the guy who never stops moving and cleaning.
I honestly hated not doing anything at work. Don't get why people want to sit around like, ever. What a waste of existence. I literally don't even watch TV. If I do I'm either working or working out. Usually it's just kinda on in the background cause of the kids though. -

2017-05-07 at 4:56 AM UTC in Why do so many people suck at their job?there's two types of people, the people who realize they are at work for 8 hours and no matter what, recognize that and decide to at least try to do a decent job or have fun, and the people who just loathe doing anything at all because they refuse to accept the fact they are at work and just crave beer and weed all day trying to avert it
